February 16, 20242 yr Friday again folks! Have to keep it short today, experiencing intermittent internet service. It's been off and on since about 11:00 PM last night. What's on Your weekend Agenda?
February 16, 20242 yr Popular Post I've had a pretty busy week on my end. Looking towards the weekend I have some shelving to make and a large couple piles of branches and such from windstorms to burn. And a bunch of other odds 'n ends to get sidetracked with...
February 16, 20242 yr Cold weekend ahead for us (before it warms up again) and I still don't have the shop heat fixed. So it's just sit around inside for me I guess. On a high note we did get Marie's handicap shower finished this week, so now I'm only waiting on one contractor to call. In all fairness to my furnace guy, I did mention my problem wasn't an emergency since I didn't want to bump someone with no heat in their house...but to me that doesn't mention "fix it next April".
February 16, 20242 yr Popular Post 18th Bday party today at 17:00 at son's house for our only grandson. Finally get to see his Mustang. Not sure of the year but it's not new, nor is it vintage. He works part time at a Target store. He's a miser and saved enough to buy the car himself. Pictures later. BIL, Phyl and I are almost finished with the master bath remodel. We removed a garden tub and vanity and BIL tiled the floor. We now need to move in the new 6' double sink vanity she bought and, it'll be complete. That's a job for tomorrow when we have more strong backs to help. That vanity has a granite top and is very heavy. The drain plumbing comes up from the floor and the vanity needs to be lifted high enough to be set over the pipes. Luckily, one of BIL'S many skills is plumbing. February 16, 20242 yr Popular Post Supposed to snow tonight, maybe get to use the snowblower! Maybe that will knock this cold/sinus stuff out of me.
February 16, 20242 yr Popular Post Domestic duties today. Men's breakfast tomorrow. Church responsibilities Sunday. In between watching live-streams of youngest granddaughters conference swim meet. Any thought of shop time has been canceled due to winter weather. If you all thought the Superbowl hype was annoying, you should live in Indiana. Seems the only thing being discussed here is the NBA All-Star game this weekend in Indianapolis...been going on for weeks but has reached excruciating painful levels. First off, the NBA is anything but real basketball; second, who cares...all legends in their own minds. Instead, if any Indiana station is carrying it, I may catch some of the Daytona 500 although NASCAR ain't what it used to be either. Final rant of the day; a weather alert came in earlier. Apparently we're on the brink of snowmageddon at least according to local weather reports when they're not blabbering about the star game. Best get to the store before all the bread, milk, Cheetos and donuts are gone. Man, spring can't get here soon enough. UPDATE: Cat wanted to go out. Opened the door...ground is snow covered and snowing pretty hard. Cat decided he did not want to go out...already back in his bed. Edited February 16, 20242 yr by Grandpadave52 Cat changed his mind

February 16, 20242 yr Popular Post The only automobile events I watch are demolition derbies. Car races on an oval track are boring. I do like to watch gymkhanas though.
February 16, 20242 yr Popular Post Actually got into the shop for a couple hours yesterday. Painted a couple Character Tops, then finish sanded the handle I have epoxied and applied some Danish Oil. Then got started on the drawer I am building to hold odds and ends used regularly on lathe. Got PT in an hour and tomorrow is club meeting . Hope I last the day . Will be carrying pain med and ice pack with me. It does get a little better every day it is just the pain in my calf and thigh that get to me.

Take care and don't over do.

February 17, 20242 yr Popular Post I'm working on a modified version of this mobile workbench. I'm building out of pallet wood I glued up months ago, but I can't find my bit extension to drill the two 8" (deep) holes. So I'm headed to the hardware store tomorrow https://www.3x3custom.com/tutorials/portable-workbench

I'll post in that thread.
February 17, 20242 yr Popular Post It's a tool, I have 2 shops and it's a long enough walk between the two so it's worth it to have one in each
February 17, 20242 yr Popular Post More bowl stuff currently in the clamps for turning. Going to try to make something with a bit of an angle to the sides this time. Tomorrow starting on the Plantation shutters for the entry way. Should be a fun project.
February 17, 20242 yr Popular Post Finishing up the master bath remodel. Got to move in and plumb a 72" double sink Vanity. Do some drywall mudding and sanding. A bit of painting. Then the job is complete.
February 18, 20242 yr Popular Post Well, while the laminates are gluing up for the shutter project, I spent some time turning my second segmented bowl. Mistakes were made, I found out what happens when you really catch and chunks of stuff start flying around. For what it’s worth, the end grain of hard maple is tricky. Mistakes were made, lessons were learned, things were glued back together, and I now own a full face shield.
