February 2, 20242 yr Popular Post Well, the farm's sold, I've figured out my picture problem, and now I have some spare time! This was among the first things I saved from the scrap bin. Bit from an old bridle, tack hammer in decent shape, sheep shears to replace my old (lost) ones, saw wrest, saw set, gimlet, dogbone wrench, axe and hatchet heads, pallette knife, Ford wrench, hook disgorger, grip for my 4' bucksaw, and several little odds-n-ends. A can opener, a tiny screwdriver, a shell casing from WW II, a bit for a brace, and a tiny scrench for a fishing reel.
February 2, 20242 yr Popular Post The wrench catches my eye. Nice tool to keep near. Perfect for holding the nut when using a ratchet.
February 3, 20242 yr Popular Post Sweet recoveries and saves John. Good on you for all your help to the family under challenging times. Glad the farm sold.

February 5, 20242 yr Author Popular Post Steven Newman posted this a day or two ago: I have something similar, but for a somewhat different purpose. Needs a bit of straightening, but otherwise OK.
February 5, 20242 yr Author Popular Post A new (to me) hammer for my collection. Now sporting a new handle. Don't imagine it'll get a lot of use, but I DO have a few RR spikes to go with it!
February 5, 20242 yr Author Popular Post Three saw sets. The one in the middle is a Disston "Triumph", patented Oct.1899. The others have no markings. And I guess this would be used along with the above.
February 5, 20242 yr Author Popular Post My Brace collection. The bottom (left) four are new additions.

February 5, 20242 yr Author Popular Post Three #4 Baileys, in varying states of decay. One has a corrugated sole. Should be able to get two good users out of this.

February 5, 20242 yr Author If you're still around, Gramps, maybe you can help me with this one. For prying something apart... car or tractor thingy?

Ratcheting position lock; Matched nail claw like ends. Reminds me of some types of coil spring compressors but for what??? Maybe some kind of fencing tool but nothing like I ever used for woven wire fence. Can't see it as any kind of nail or staple remover. Maybe @steven newmanor @HandyDan have some ideas. I assume there are no identifying markings? Edited February 5, 20242 yr by Grandpadave52

Those are used to compress valve springs on small engines. Put them between the engine block and the spring. Compress the spring and remove keepers.
