For Christmas I made birdhouses to stand among the mushrooms.  I used the larger Linden/Basswood branches from my tree out back.  They stood about eight inches tall.

 

 

 

After Christmas I played with some short pieces and made Gnome home doors for them.  Didn't drill for the birds in these.  I put a door in the one I kept for myself too.

 

 

 

I made the doors and frames as an assembly and let them into the turnings.  I found I would never make it as a carver.  Can't explain how the bark sticks to them but never lost a single section of it during the turning and carving.

Awesome Dan. The colors, the finish, the proportions, level of detail and....and...just plain cool. The mushrooms are amazing.

I don't know about perfected but I can do them without going nutty.  That small is always tedious chore.  @Steve Krumanaker is the bird man and I thank him for sharing.

Good job Dan. Have wanted to do birdhouse with NE  and now your idea for a tabletop is excellent. I have not done Steve's birds but that too is on agenda. One cool thing is I now have all that sweet gum.

Now that you mention it, neither have I. Shows he popped in Monday of this week though, so guessing everything is good?
