Friday January 19th, 2024-Whats on Your Weekend Agenda?

After a rough week weather wise, it's Friday again folks. ;)

Snowing here now again "Two Weeks From Anywhere" so the outdoor shop remains closed. <_<

So, in the meantime I've been playing "Couch Potatoe" trying to figure out some new to me computer software/apps. :WonderScratch:

Have to make a grocery store run later today or the cats might rebel.

We might make it above freezing Monday, so until then I'll continue being the "Couch Potatoe". ;)

:ChinScratch: What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Waiting in anticipation for next week when the temps climb...:D

In all seriousness, next weeks 60's & 70's for all week are not at all what we need.  After this cold spell we've had a long week of high temps might cause our peaches to break dormancy and begin bud swell.  If that happens we would only be one hard freeze from losing another peach crop.

Forecast is for a very cold weekend.  I find it hard to get motivated to work outside or in the shop when it's this cold, so it might be a good time to catch up on some visiting.  In other words, no real plans.

Long cold week here too. Still snowing, 10°, RF, -6°. Received ~3"-4" of snow overnight so not planning anything. Some domestic engineer duties today, perhaps a trip to the mailbox later.

Oldest grandson has an all day wrestling tourney Saturday so watching youngest grandson tomorrow; he said he's not sitting there all day:lol: Men's breakfast too if it doesn't get cancelled. Sunday church responsibilities.

Snowplow just went down our road both ways so there's that.

Not sure what's going on here, may get some shop time. Like most of the nation we had a cold week....very cold, and next week that changes. But for the weekend I may still be hunkered down; or not. I do need to start planning my Superbowl party. To remind folks my party is to celebrate the end of the #$@^*)*&%$%)><+?$@!!&*())(*& football season and it's interference with the newscasts I watch.

So how do you really feel about the NFL Fred?

Trimming a tree today, you know there is something to be said about all you cold weather snowy folks in the midwest and east end of our nation. You all get to hibernate like Larry, couch potato etc. You all get to have some downtime, much needed downtime in my opinion. From where I sit, I'd love to have a few months of doing absolutely nothing but indoor stuff like reading, websurfing, movie watching, baking, dreaming up the next new idea for my spring project etc etc.

Cuz where I'm sitting, this good weather does not allow any of those things, because as long as the weather is good, my lovely wife insists on things getting done around the outside and whatever else she can dream up for her husband on the weekends, because I don't work hard enough during the week bringing in the bacon to pay the bills! And since our weather is good all year long, I'm working all year long on this or that. I no I no, get a pair ya'll say, stand up and man up, tell her I aint gonna do it, ya right, the wrath of a woman. But hey, she's happy :)

I plan on retiring pretty soon, and we are looking for a place to live in the southeast, NE Tennessee or NW North Carolina for a couple locations, I'm looking for seasons! I'm looking for some down time in my aging years! I need snow! Just a couple to a few weeks off would be wonderful! If we got snow outside, mama can't make me do this or do that  outside!

Mostly tongue in cheek guys, life is good :)

All sounds great doesn't it?...UNTIL, your well pump goes belly up when it's 12 below (Monday):PullingHair:, car doesn't start because it's, well 12 below (Monday), putting on 3 layers of clothes to walk that 150' to the mailbox 'cause it's 12 below (all week):OldManSmiley:, shoveling &/or blowing snow when it's, that's right, 12 below.(today)

I'd love to be outside working in the yard, on the house, or well most anything. How much fun it would be to use tools when you can feel them in your hands or they don't stick to your tongue because, ya' got it, it's 12 below.;)

The grass on the other side of the fence isn't always green John. It's usually white...deep...and cold, very very cold:GoodNight:

Point taken Gramps, you convinced me, ok ok, so we'll look for homes in South Carolina then!

Like a friend of mine used to say-  "The grass is always greener over the septic tank"

Come to "Two Weeks From Anywhere" John. If you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes it'll probably change. (Usually for the worse but?)

12:45 PM CDT 11° RF -13°.

Don't be surprised if you find that, upon retirement, you wonder how you ever had time to work a day job!

Hey I am just happy to be on the green side of the grass.

Been shopping at Sam's this morning and grocery store soon putting in supplies for my convalescence after the new knee goes in Tuesday. Went up state yesterday to visit a shop. Hey they still had sleet on the road till we started back. Oh yea I could not get out the drive yesterday morn. Everything thawed except the steep front part of my drive, so the guys picked me up.

Tomorrow is woodturners meeting and I hope the new sound setup works since I purchased and engineered it.

Good thing surgery is next week since the velcro on this brace is worn out and I don't want to buy another.

I was going to a friend's house this morning to pick up some stuff.  Google maps wanted me to go on the back roads there (about 25 miles) to save 2 miles.  The first couple of back roads I went on were pretty slushy.  So I decided to eat the 2 miles and stay on the main roads and take the interstate for the first 4 miles, one exit.  Two miles into it, the traffic came to a stop.  Sat there for 50 minutes.  Finally opened up and I got off at the next exit.  Not sure what happened to close the road, but there were two state patrol cars sitting in the church lot at that exit.  At least I didn't have to pee real bad.  I didn't have a Gatorade jar with me.

Tip:  Whenever I feel the need for snow, I just check out the weather channel ;)  I remember all too well having to work through those storms and months of winter.  No time off for dairy farmers...

After 3 weeks at the tool hospital, my De Walt scroll saw was finally discharged. Picked it up yesterday and dropped off the De Walt planer. The planer doesn't want to crank down below 2". Hope it's a simple case of chain adjustment. My yellow tools aren't treating me well. Those are the only DeWalt tools in the shop. When they aren't sick, they're great tools. But, the hospital bills aren't cheap. Plus, the hospital is an hour drive from my place.

Unless you are one, or know one, you have no idea of the commitment
