Friday January 5th, 2024-Whats on Your Weekend Agenda?

:ChinScratch: First Friday of 2024 folks!

Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" my brother bought a newer car. He got a 2022 Honda HRV to replace his 2000 Chevy Blazer.

His Blazer wouldn't start the other day, and he decided it was time to replace both of their "Money Pits".

His Blazer and the SIL's 2004 Chevy Malibu Maxx are now sitting next door.

The Malibu has an engine noise, the Blazer Bruce and I got running after replacing the throttle position sensor.

The Blazer wasn't throwing any CEL codes, so we took our "supply" of sensors with us when we went back for it after getting the Malibu.

After going through Bruce's Astro van, I knew it had to be one of several sensors that can shut down the fuel injector circuits.

My brother said he was told the rear end in the Blazer will need replacing because the differential cover rusted out and it now has a slight whine after it was replaced.

Bruce wants to put a plow on it to plow next door, so we'll be making a "Boneyard" run sometime this morning to see about a rear end.

I also received the replacement front trunnion clamp for that old Delta #860 table saw yesterday that I acquired through a parts swap with another old machinery enthusiast. :D

That's about it here, What's on Your weekend Agenda?

Out early every morning this week driving over to daughter/SILs to watch grandsons; boys are pretty low maintenance. They're still on Christmas break until next Tuesday. Did manage to get a haircut in this week. Oldest granddaughter coming home later today as is 2"-3" of snow by tomorrow morning so guess I'll be relocating some snow tomorrow. Church responsibilities Sunday. Not much else happening this time of year.

I'll need to do some furniture re-arranging this weekend. We had bought a lift chair for Marie's back surgery back in Sept., and had to move some stuff around to make room for it. It's time for it to be taken from the family room and put the other stuff back in place. Still not sure where the lift chair will go, and these suckers are heavy...this one is over 200#.  Of course, all of this is contingent on getting the rest of Christmas packed away. I am not qualified to do the packing of the ornaments or nutcrackers (lots and lots of nutcrackers!). So my role in this is to hand the stuff to Marie and wait for her to pack it.

That was our 50th Wedding anniversary gifts to each other.:P A pair of new power lift chairs. Had to replace mine which I got before I came home from my back surgery. Took two really big guys to move them into place. Chairs are identical except hers is smaller frame than mine. Mine weighs in approaching 300#. I'd loan you a couple of my H-F furniture dollies if you were closer. Hope you don't have any steps to navigate?

Too cold for the playground so some shop time should suffice.

Weather is nice and chilly here, feels like winter in So Cal.

Heading up to my dad's home today to pick him up and get his routine blood work done, and take him grocery shopping then get him back up the mountain.

I hope to get in my shop today and tinker, tomorrow I hope to remain in the shop and get my head wrapped around my loose ends that need attention. Last few years my life rhythm meter has been way off and I need to get it back. We'll be busy taking down Christmas decorations this Sunday.

Hope you all doing well, stay safe this weekend and keep those project shares coming!

The fun and excitement will disappear rapidly once that first blast of snow from the chute blows back at ya'. After that it just like mowing the yard except it's white and cold...very, very cold.:P

Man I sure wish I could, my sleep patterns are all over the place, can't sleep past 4am any day, cuz that's when I get up for work, but most the time I'm up around 2:30am for no danged reason, just thoughts and stuff racing through my head. So I just get up, resign to the fact I aint going back to sleep and I grab a cup o coffee and read, play at the PC, watch news, till it's time to go to work, or on the weekends till it's time to tackle the missus when she wakes up. Averaging 4 or 5 hrs of sleep can't last forever! :D

You can have my share, and my snow blower as well. What Dave said is exactly right...the wind really takes the fun out of it.

This is a tester used to determine ethanol content in fuel.  Roughly E80.  Too bad this 2021 Nissan Rogue is NOT a flex fuel vehicle and as such cannot run using this mess

Drain tank, clean lines and change spark plugs.

Somebody is going to have a bad 1st of the year.

John, Didn't you visit us here in South Carolina recently?  Sounds like your body is stuck in the Eastern Time Zone!  Unplug yourself for 30 seconds and then plug yourself back in to reset.

Fred my wife is the same way about the 30 plus years of Hallmark ornaments. I cannot either put them up (unless she tells me which spot, nor pack them.

And what is this with Steven taking Monday AND Friday off, you would think he was retired. :D Bet he ran out of wood.

Still working on the finish on the A/V Box. Played with the new mic setup for the turning club and not making any progress, more tomorrow

No big plans, several things I might do... or not.

I loaded up the truck yesterday with a bunch of stuff to carry to the Habitat Restore, but I think I will wait until next week when I have a doc appt. to go drop it off.

It's currently raining, but supposed to stop in the next hour or so and warm up.  Given that I might rather start my winter trimming in the yard.  I've also got another mirror to get out to the sandblaster.  I should do that while it's warm this afternoon.

Forecast is for it to cool back down tomorrow.  Therefore, tomorrow is up in the air :ChinScratch:

Jim, soon I hope to unplug myself for the rest of my life and move to your neck of the woods, we are looking at Aiken SC, Western NC, Eastern Tennessee. Zillow has been my best friend lately  and YouTube videos showing tours of those areas.

There are so many great towns back there, it's overwhelming. One town I am honing in on is Mt. Airy NC. But right now it's all just media based dreaming, we have yet to visit those areas, but for Aiken, we visited there back in May of last year and absolutely loved it.

Can you tell me what town you are from Jim? Or not, I respect everyone's privacy here :)

John, we're in Murrells Inlet, just south of Myrtle Beach.  Like many growing areas, they have all melted together.  Originally from central NY (Cooperstown), we did the snowbird thing for a few years, but it got too much.  It's quiet and very convenient here, but without the craziness of MB.  Haven't had to deal with any big storm yet, but our neighbors have without issues.

Mt. Airy - isn't that the home of Andy, Barney and Aunt Bea?

We had looked in Tennessee, south of Knoxville.  I liked it, but my wife didn't and I've learned to trust her instincts.  We've heard good things about the Greenville SC area, and Aiken too but you're familiar.  It's my understanding that you'll get weather in the upstate as it's called.  That may be a shock to your California system. :JawDrop:

We had a Florida place for a while, but with family still in NY, it's too far.

Best of luck to you and family.

Whoa, wait just a minute!  You cannot move from California.  It is against the law.

Moving out of California has been known to cause cancer.  Thus, MOVING out of California is banned.
