December 1, 20232 yr Popular Post December already? Not sure what I'll be doing this weekend, it depends on what Mother Nature decides to throw our way. Probably won't get much done, I've been dealing with an upper respiratory infection that has me slowed way down. Did manage to get that pile of firewood moved and stacked, took two days to do what should have taken about four hours. That's about it for here, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Dog is passed out in the living room and I've been given orders to put up the remaining 2 window swags- at the gable ends of the house!

Also gave up untangling strings of lights, now just put the clump in the corner and plug it in. Look at all the pretty colors!
December 1, 20232 yr Popular Post Tomorrow we go to granddaughter's school bazaar. They're supposed to have food trucks. Looking forward to a Tucson favorite. A Sonoran dog. A big fat hot dog wIth Mecican chili beans and shredded cheddar and pico de gallo. Pico de gallo means chick beaks in Mexican. Also, goat cheese, if you want. Might get back home early enough for some shop time. After a nap, of course. Sunday may be just a lazy day. Edited December 1, 20232 yr by Gene Howe

December 2, 20232 yr Popular Post Thursday I spent all day doing yard work, getting up and/or mulching leaves. Yesterday I milled some lumber down (reclaimed old oak and cherry) to make a few picture frames and done a finish test on scrap pieces. Step 1 was a coat of Zinsser Seal Coat. I must say, looking at them this morning I am not to keen on how they look. I will apply a couple coats of GF water base this morning and also test some antique oil on different scraps. I was hoping to get this first batch of five frames done up this weekend... I'm rethinking that goal. And a Dawgs game later this afternoon. I'd like to see them win three more games for this season Edited December 2, 20232 yr by Cal
December 2, 20232 yr Installed two new antennas yesterday. Will be spending time getting these tuned and operational. One is handmade 133' long fed by open ladder line. The other is a commercial RadioWavez coax fed Off Center dipole at 66'. The long one is oriented N/S and the shorter one is E/W. Combined, these antennas should put me closer to 360 degree coverage. Currently, I'm deaf towards Alaska and India. Still waiting on parts to get the vertical running. New radio is also in the mix, iCom 7610. In addition to dual receivers, it has extensive improvements to filtering and can be controlled remotely over the internet. I can sit in my recliner and operate the rig from my laptop. The 7300 will be repurposed for portable work, field days, Parks on the Air, etc. .40 Edited December 2, 20232 yr by forty_caliber
