October 13, 20232 yr Popular Post Friday The 13th Folks! Here in the land of "Two Weeks From Anywhere" we're in for a weekend. I'm not letting that stop me from working on one of the "FUN" projects I've got going. Spent the past couple of days working around the getting the main case for the Larkin desk put back together. I'll be posting photos of my slow progress, nothing like watching a glue up cure. Kind of reminds me of watching paint dry. Today I hope to get the back of the case put back on. That's about it for my weekend agenda, what's on yours?
October 13, 20232 yr Popular Post Got a tooth extraction at 09:00. #31 is coming out. I'll be chewing on the other side for a while. Depending on the residual pain, might get in the shop later. Yesterday, several toy patterns were prepped for routing. Got several more to get ready. They're all going to a bazaar later. What doesn't sell will go to Toys For Tots. Depending on the residual pain, When I had all 4 wisdom teeth taken out at the same time my future MIL made me a steak. Future wife saw the look on my face and knew I wasn't going to let that slide. Walked over to the trash can and threw the gauze away, took me at least an hour but I finished that steak. Actually, felt pretty good the next day.
October 13, 20232 yr Popular Post The AF pulled my wisdom teeth. Not a pleasant experience. But, after they were gone, my sinus headaches went away.
October 13, 20232 yr Popular Post Intend to do as little as I can get away with....even less IF they let me.. GrandBRAT is coming for the weekend..let him do all the work..

She'll come home with me after for a couple days as her university will be on fall break. Her sister is coming home for the weekend as well. Church responsibilities Sunday. Garage time will be minimal if at all. Oh, almost forgot...Happy Friday the 13th. Beware of the Donut Truck Edited October 13, 20232 yr by Grandpadave52

October 13, 20232 yr Popular Post Tooth extraction is done! Had to break it out in pieces. More because of it's lack of structural integrity than anything else. The right side of the lower jaw and tongue is still numb after 90 minutes. On a soft food diet for the next few days. Only yogurt, jello, cottage cheese or, ice cream.

October 14, 20232 yr Popular Post Been a bit since I had some time to get out to the shop and do anything useful. Between work, travel, and refurbing a rental house it has been a busy month and a half or so. Now that I am back at it, got a vacuum cart and separator all put together which will motivate me to actually hook it up to stuff and keep some of the dust down. Got some cleat / brackets made and hung up some shopsmith bandsaws on the wall to get stuff off the floor and out of the way Have a freezer/fridge coming in tomorrow so had to get some stuff out of the way to make room for that but I think it is going to work out pretty nicely. All in all it has been a crazy ride and I am happy to be back in the shop!
October 14, 20232 yr Made a couple of interesting contacts on the HF radio this week. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the island of St. Lucia in the southern Caribbean. Both of these contacts are more than 5000 miles away from my station in Texas and a great example of "skip". One hop from my station to the ionosphere and back to earth is roughly 1200 miles These contacts represent 3 round trips. Excellent performance for an end fed wire antenna and 100watts. I'm currently working on a 2m/70cm VHF radio installation. This radio will allow me to talk on the repeater network and reach pretty much anywhere in Texas. The local repeaters are provided by the Washington County Amatuer Radio Club free of charge for anyone to use. One of the repeaters sits on the 300' tall Brenham PD radio tower. This is the radio... .40 Edited October 14, 20232 yr by forty_caliber
