October 2, 20232 yr Popular Post Anything going on? Everybody trying to just let Monday slide by? A factory I used to work for....seems to have changed to 4 ten hour a day shifts........they are working Tuesday through Friday....and NOT on Mondays? Hmmmm?
October 2, 20232 yr Popular Post But oooh those 10 hour days. Used to work 14 hour days but would not do that again. Who am I kidding I would not work again period!
October 2, 20232 yr Popular Post did a little fix up project at church this AM. helped the maintenance guy reattach some loose veneer, installed an L shaped corner guard to protect some veneer, sanded and put some polyurethane on some damaged spots (both water and hand sanitizer). looks WAY better now. receptionist (we called her the boss, since it's her area) was very pleased. win! 1 Cor. 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
October 3, 20232 yr Popular Post Got all the regular yard mowed between Saturday and Sunday afternoons plus roadsides, ditches and 3/4 of fence rows. It is very dry, very rough and very hard ground. "Upper acre" as we call it and back, outside fence row remain. I was waiting until the soybeans were harvested before mowing back fence row. Looks like, tomorrow or the next day for the fence row since they're combining the beans right now. Need to try some fixes on the F725 fuel system then test it on the upper acre. Last 7th grade football game Tuesday night unless they make-up the two that were canceled due to weather. At least this one is at home so only 15 minutes away. Rest of the week TBD but likely will include as much outside work as possible. Big change in the weather coming by end of week. Hope @John Morrisis OK? Maybe he just overslept since he's unsupervised.

October 3, 20232 yr Have to give stepson and wife a ride to Milwaukee to get a different car later this morning if the money from insurance got deposited in their account. Their 2011 Focus got totaled a week or so ago.

Step Granddaughter got hit by a woman from Milwaukee without insurance in a rush to get to a court date. Did a left turn into her. Guess she'll have a few more court dates now.
October 3, 20232 yr Popular Post Thank you Steve for stepping up and in, I can't believe we are in October already, and the weekend flew by, I was running late for work and had to get the heck outta the house and couldn't sit down to get our Monday topic live, once I got to work, it was a holes and elbows. Thanks Steve
October 3, 20232 yr Popular Post October already? Where did July, August, and September go? In any case my project consideration for today is to make a tiny box/den for a tiny small ceramic fox I have. Want to make a tiny door for it, with tiny hinges and clasp. I'm positive the little fox comes alive during the nights and does mischievous tricks on his shelf neighbors as they all seem to want to complain about it when I see them each morning. So the den crate is to lock him up each night. The difficulty will be in making the tiny hardware for the box. At my age my eyes aren't so sharp. The only magnifying glass I have is a cheap one that is all scratched up and pretty useless. As I won't be able to tell if I've made them right or if they will work I'll assume I already did and they worked perfectly. Now to debate with myself over what kind of joints I should use on the box corners. Perhaps a new CNC cut variation I'll call the fox joint. The fox is pretty clever apparently as he has escaped from earlier versions done from cardboard glued together with Elmer's glue. 4D Edited October 3, 20232 yr by 4DThinker
October 3, 20232 yr Popular Post I'd rather work 4 ten hour days than 5 eight hour days. A day off and one less commute. Plus most of the time I was working "eight hour days" I was actually at work for nine hours.
October 3, 20232 yr I did 7 12 hour days for almost a year. (84 hour weeks) Checks were good but little time to do anything else. Made more in one week than I get for a months pension now.

Plus most of the time I was working "eight hour days" I was actually at work for nine hours. That's our current schedule. Mon thru Thur 6am to 4:30pm with Fridays and weekends off. It's really cool when the rest of the labor force gets a three day weekend such as Memorial Day, it turns into a 4 day weekend for us! When we first went to the 4/10 I thought it was going to be rough, but really it wasn't much a change at all, we are already at work, what's another two hours? The transition was very easy.
October 3, 20232 yr Author Wanting to do a write up on that Post Drill Rehab....just not sure where to post it at..... Worn out at the moment....been a long time since this old boy has worn socks....worked up a sweat getting them on....I just don't bend that well, nowadays....
October 3, 20232 yr Author Last factory job I held, before I retired...we worked 7 out of every 14 days, with 12 hours shifts...plus overtime to cover people that called in...or were fired, or just quit.. Plasti_Pak was a revolving door....Everytime you drink a Pepsico Product plastic bottle..think of me...as I just might have made that bottle.... Now a days? I work for me....IF I want a day off, I take it...

October 4, 20232 yr Popular Post Someone from the owwm website must like me. I received this Delta 785 Band Saw SBS-52-S light bracket in the mail yesterday. Been looking for one for a few years. It came from Keith Bohns tailgate swap meet display at this year's Arnfest "Old Arn" swap meet. Haven't got a clue who sent it. But they made my day!
