5 Weeks

For the next 5 weeks it's just my son and I. Mama took off to her home country of Panama to visit her family and help take care of her mother, and to give her siblings a break from the care they've been providing for their mother.

My son and I saw her off to the airport on Friday, and we drove home, on the way we stopped by a good burger spot and enjoyed our first meal as "Free men". We had a great time, we talked about his job, his buddies, and the things we are going to do while mama is gone to keep us occupied.

We arrived home that night, he ran upstairs and hung out doing what 19 yr olds do, talk with his buddies, jump on a game or two, and I sat down in the living room in the quiet of the home.

Fast forward to today, Monday morning and I'm getting ready for work, and all I have to say at this point is this "I was built to be married!".. It's gonna be a loooong 5 weeks my friends.

@steven newman But it's a good Monday!

After Mucho :PullingHair: Astro van 6, Larry 6.  Game Over. <_<

Larry WON! :P

1) Theft Prevention Module. (Key Pass System) Replaced and programmed.

2) Ignition Switch Housing. Replaced due to bad Key Pass Sensor

3) Ignition Switch. Replaced due to previously cut into wiring. Somebody had been here before.

4) Fuel Injectors/Fuel Distribution Module. Replaced would not respond to data signals.

5) Vehicle Control Module.

Replaced and Reprogrammed. Intermittent data signals to fuel distribution data signals would not keep injector circuit engaged, part of Key Pass Functions

6) Instrument Cluster Assembly. Replaced due to cooked resistors in the gauge circuits.

Amazing the amount of components taken out when somebody that doesn't have a clue what they're doing messes with wiring.

Still waiting on the Hollow End Mill to get here for working on the Pilot. :Tapping:

This weekend, my wife commented that most of the current furniture sold would not last long enough to pass down to kids or grandkids.  This morning I repaired a dresser at the furniture bank.  The drawer sides were made of one-by pine butt jointed and just stapled together.  The thing I had to repair was the horizontal dividers between the drawers.  Two of three were broken.  No wonder, they were 1.25" wide particle board fastened with a little plastic ell stapled to the drawer glides (one by 1" wide lumber) on the ends.  All you had to do was push on it and it would break.  Made IKEA stuff look like premium furniture.  Did a quick and dirty with some scrap plywood from a finished shelf.

Continued recovery mode through the weekend mostly in the lawn swing, yard chairs or picnic table. Mrs & I took a quick trip to McD's drive through yesterday, then did some "road farming" just to get out of the house for a while. Later, did some tool refurbs; probably shouldn't have; Feel miserable today.

Grandson's football game tomorrow about an hour away. Really need a trip to Rural King plus some other errands. See how I feel.

was all excited to order my Glock that i won this weekend (drawing at the Glock match), and had an FFL all lined up....and his license expires 1/1/24, but the glock website says it has to be valid thru 1/29/24...sigh....

i have a year, so i'll check back with him when he gets his renewal.

Congrats DAB. Odd the requirement date for FFL. I would think if currently valid all's well unless Glock anticipates long delivery lead times? Anyways cool beans.

won guns are not pulled from current production, but are made/allocated down the road.  once done, they are sent directly to the FFL, not distributors, and then picked up by the winner/customer/new owner.  Glock says it could be a 2-3 month wait, so they want the FFL to be good for 4 months.

i imagine that they make all the same type for a few days/weeks at a time, then switch to the next model that needs to be made.  so depending on how often they run a production of your model, you may have to wait a bit.

so if they are keeping distributors stocked, and fulfilling .gov contracts (police), your selected gun has to fit in there somewhere.  if you pick a G45, and they are making G17s this month, well, get comfy and relax.  they'll get to it, eventually.  it's free after all!

Had to go to doctors office in town for a shot. Finally got to the shop and Hallelujah it started raining and was still raining when I left the shop. Over 2.5 inches at that time and I am ecstatic. First measurable rain since July. Ok I am out of breath now.:)

Getting ready to head out to get the Left eye ball worked on....Maybe Long John Silvers for Lunch?

SWMBO had a yard sale over the weekend.  Much stuff is gone, even from the shop... but I can't really tell

Got it set up Thursday evening and covered everything with tarps, Friday morning my back acted up uncovering the tables.  By yesterday afternoon I was able to move around in comfort, although standing or sitting was still a pain.  This morning I was able to walk out to the kitchen and fix coffee rather than crawl.  Getting better!

I have some sandblasting to do & my compressor has decided it won't play nice.  I did notice that it was taking longer to keep the tank full - and it's been chirping like a song bird for awhile too.  Last week it wouldn't pump over 90 psi, yesterday with running the pressure gradually dropped to 60 psi :(   I removed the head yesterday.  The intake reed valves are in good order and tight against the valve plate.  The exhaust reed valves seem to have a very slight bend and it appears that they were not sealing.  I put in a call to the air compressor supply house where I bought the pump to see if they stock the exhaust valves and gasket set...

And walking around very slowly and carefully.  Got to get it together, another trip to Atlanta this weekend...

Cal there is a one way/check valve where the air goes into the tank.  Remove and inspect it for dirt.  If it is not working the pump is always under pressure from the tank and makes it work harder.  The chirping maybe the belt starting to slip from working so hard.

How'd it feel Steve! Any pain during surgery?

  • Popular Post

LOTS of eye drops...eye was pretty numbed up.   A bit sore now.   Took longer to get me prepped than to do the surgery.   Doctor knows what he is doing!

Wasn't too bad, actually....Right eye will be done about 2 weeks from now..

That's good news Steven, having anything that close to eyeballs seems pretty freaky to me. But it sounds like you had a great doc, excellent!

Thanks Dan.  There was no leak down occurring so everything I had researched did not point to that.

Got the call from ACS and they had the gaskets and new reeds in stock.  Got them swapped out yesterday - changed all the reeds since they were in the kit - back in business and got my doors glass sandblasted just before supper last night.  A simple and (relatively) inexpensive fix :)  As to the chirping, I inspected the belt and seen that the motor pulley had shifted a bit so I fixed that at the same time.  I (want to) think it ran better than ever as I used it last night.

Oh, this morning... sort of an exaggerated chimpanzee walk... chest bowed out, shoulders back, swaggering - trying to find that way to move with minimal pain - but I am walking on my own rather than staggering from chair to table to counter trying to stay upright :D

I'm headed towards my state of eudemonia... today's word of the day on dictionary.com ;)
