September 15, 20232 yr Popular Post We made it to Friday folks! Here in the land of "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I'm getting a few days break from the Astro and Pilot while we wait for the Factory Service Manual for the Astro and a hollow end mill so I can get that broken off bolt out of the Pilot to come. I'm beginning to think I'm getting to for this crap and need a break from them anyway. Hopefully I'll get a little time to work on the "FUN" projects while we wait for those items, but the lawns need mowing, and this that and the other may prevent that. With that, it's time for the "BIG" question,... What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
September 15, 20232 yr Popular Post "Here in the land of "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I'm getting a few days break from the Astro and Pilot" Yeah, sure you will....I think we've heard that before. For me, I'm still doing care taker duties, though Marie's recovery seem to be going well. I meant to mow yesterday and didn't get the chance, so maybe today....no hurry, all I need to do is even out the weeds. Otherwise, if the care taker stuff declines enough I may spend a few minutes in the shop.
September 15, 20232 yr Popular Post My plans changed "a bit". Earlier in the week we were preparing to head north (again) to Atlanta today - and Larry - my compass says it north Then I got asked to help with a stage prop for an upcoming play. One prop in particular that they had ideas on and had started to build but were kinda floundering on the execution. We got a good start on it yesterday and hopefully (has to be) we will get the build completed today. Painting said prop can take place without me. Got a huge rain last night, starting about 5 minutes after we got all the prop parts and tools moved into the shop It poured for a bit over an hour and measured 2.5" at that point. So if I can finish up in time today I plan to mow the lawn. Then load up the truck - and head north on Saturday morning and likely return Sunday evening or Monday morning. See y'all next week

September 15, 20232 yr Popular Post Got most of the grass mowed yesterday. Finish up today and start the Fall yard work routine.

Waiting for the grass to dry up a bit before I go start mowing. Have about 4.5 acres waiting on me. It's rather dewy out there this morning. I never managed to finish the Spring yard work routine.
September 15, 20232 yr Popular Post I would mow the yard....but...leg is still in recovery mode.... Not much else going on...64 sunny degrees outside!
September 15, 20232 yr Popular Post Beautiful fall weather here but no rain in sight for another week. At least the grass doesn't need mowing. Going to try and finish up the engraved platter. Not entirely happy with the engraving. The elm really isn't suitable for engraving a small photo that had too many details. Guess it will stay in my collection instead of being a gift. Edit: New weather forecast- some rain on Sunday. Maybe that hurricane is tracking a little more west than originally thought. Edited September 15, 20232 yr by lew
September 15, 20232 yr Popular Post Fall deep cleaning about a wrap finally and thank goodness. Best half took last couple days off to supervise😜. A trip to Goodwill and recycle center remain. New chairs to arrive later today. Yard needs mowed in some places. Others it crunches when you walk on it so gonna pass on mowing. Already been two soybean fields nearby catch fire when combines caught fire. Likely a bearing went bad setting bean fuzz accumulation ablaze. May try to get a jump on other outside work. Would love to get some actual fun shop time in. We'll see.
September 15, 20232 yr Popular Post Working in FInding Nemo sets. One of the things on the list is a "whale stomach" for Nemo to climb out of. Also a community parade, so my trailer needs transformed into a float. Open house at the Furniture Bank, but I won't be able to make it. Hog Roast at church on Sunday. September 15, 20232 yr What little shoptime there was today.....cleaned up a Great Neck Coping saw, refinished it's WOOD handle....installled a NEW blade (tossed the old dull rusty one out). And hung it up on the outside of the Tool Cabinet... #2 Stanley No. 5, type 14/15: Iron's edge was at an angle to the side, way out of square. Regrind a new bevel. sharpened up at the Unicorn. Has a shallow camber, just like a normal Jack plane should. Polished the lever cap....polished the hump of the chipbreaker, to ease the way for shavings. And that was it for today...
