Hello everyone one, and thank you for letting me join your community.

I was a diesel truck mechanic for over 25 years, I now work in the automotive software field. I have also been fortunate  to have worked on open wheel race cars, sprints and midgets for 30 years.

I enjoy wood carving, I have just started learning, I also do wood turning and have made some furniture for my wife and family.

I enjoy working on wood projects and  pretty much anything mechanical,as long as its not parked behind a desk staring at a computer.

I look forward to learning from all of you on this forum.

Welcome aboard, Mark...always good to see new members. Ignore the pleas of some to bring donuts; most of us don't need the calories or sugar. In any case I guess being from the sunny state (or is that sunburn state?) might make you yet one more desert rat (we already have several) who enjoys unbearable heat. No matter, WELCOME!

Thank you, I have lived in Arizona sine 1985, I guess I am a glutton for punishment when it comes to summer heat.

Hey Mark, welcome to our little corner of the world, and great to have you aboard! What a cool other hobby work trade craft you did with those Sprint cars, a mechanic, well you'll be able to lend many here some advice on how to fix their cars cuz we are always asking and some folks step up and help out!

As far as your woodworking, sounds like a well rounded route you took, carving and building furniture, if you have any pics we'd love to see them! Thanks again for joining sir. :)

Welcome Mark

Welcome to the forum. By the way we do like pictures. As to the doughnuts I had a dozen Wednesday so Grandpaw Dave can have mine.

Welcome from another desert rat. We're a ways west of Tucson. No donuts here. The wife's homemade cinnamon rolls will have to suffice.

Welcome aboard Mark, glad to have you here.

It must be the summer heat that has taken over the whole country - I've never seen so many pass on the donuts!  It is the responsibility of new members to bring 'em,  I'll take a blueberry cake one please!  If this heat continues will folks be passing on the coffee next? :o

As John said, we do like pics so go ahead and post up some of your work and jump right in with questions.  We have some very talented carvers and several folks from the copper state on board.  You'll be in good company :)

I am out in the Waddell area, we are between Surprise and Glendale, near Luke Air Force Base.

Welcome from the east coast Mark. Thought about a move to AZ many years ago but plans do change. Great group of guys here.

Welcome to The Patriot Woodworker Mark. Happy you found us. A great place to hangout and keep "cool." Looking forward getting to know you better, hearing and seeing more about your projects as well as what's happening in general out your way. Your open wheel racing passion fits perfectly with @DuckSoup.  Several of us here have previous or current experience as wrench turners so you're at home there as well.

I apologize for all my fellow members shameless lack of civility and positioning for donut handouts. Should you feel the need to provide donuts for the group as is a long established tradition and custom for new members, I'll gladly accept your gratuity of a chocolate covered variety. Also please take note of @Gerald's gracious donation to his favorite donut charity.

Not sure I can afford donuts for the whole group, Now if you are in the Phoenix area LaMar's Donuts happens to be my favorite. the Donuts are huge and made fresh daily. As a bonus it is just down the road from Wood Workers Source. Nothing better than a good doughnut and coffee and a trip to the wood store.

Without a doubt, you belong here. That statement alone reflects your current knowledge, priorities and potential to leave a lasting legacy in the pursuit of woodworking nirvana.:P
