August 4, 20232 yr As you know, I've had to end my woodworking days because of age issues. I've been offered $800,00 for the Laguna 14/12 bandsaw- I feel it is a low offer. Just wondering what everyone thinks. Selling it is difficult, but I know I won't be using it again myself.
August 4, 20232 yr Popular Post Agree with Gene and he is spot on with the price. They go for $1600 new. .40
August 4, 20232 yr Depends on the brand and size in lathes . Smaller lathes at 14 and under usually will go about half of new price . Larger lathes 18 to 20 of popular brands will be at 2/3 or more of new price. Even then it also makes a difference in how fast you want to sell. I really think 800 to 1000 would be a good starting place.
August 4, 20232 yr It's kind of a regional thing I suspect, but there's 2-14/12s on our local Facebook Marketplace and I'd bet neither one is in as good condition as yours. The cheaper one is listed for $1000, and the second one is listed at $1275. I'm think Gene's range is pretty realistic.
August 12, 20232 yr A quick search on CL in Indiana yielded 3....range $1000, $1275, $1800. Higher priced one had some upgrades. I have to agree with others; $1000-$1250 is a very fair price especially with the condition and low hour usage AL. $800 offer is a lowball offer IMO. Good luck my friend.
August 12, 20232 yr I know from reading how inexpensive some of the Shopsmith’s are, and then what they go for around here, I think here in the Mass section of the country, things generally sell for the higher end. But I have no idea on what/how to price things.
August 13, 20232 yr Author Popular Post @Grandpadave52 @ArtieSold the bandsaw this week for $1150.00. Probably could have done better but I'm satisfied and the buyer is happy.

Sorry I just now realized this thread was 10 days old. Good deal Al. Glad you received a fair price both you and the buyer agreed upon. No doubt bitter-sweet seeing it leave.

I paid $100 for my c.1988 110# ∆ 34-670 table saw. I may get $200 from a buyer who need it right now, or likes the condition / features (has the base cabinet). But finding that buyer with $200 in their pocket vs. a quick sale at what I paid, it's all in the timing. Glad you got a decent price; sad it has to go; I've moved out certain tools I do not use anymore and it is always sad to see them go.
August 13, 20232 yr Author Popular Post Selling your tools is never easy, but in my case, there is nobody in my family who has an interest in them, and I'm not going to be able to use them. Trying to get a reasonable price while I'm able to. My wife and daughter have no idea of the values and would likely sell everything to the first buyer for peanuts.

Fair price, and for a good cause!
August 20, 20232 yr I’m hoping you are at least getting the feeling that they are going to a good home, where they will be used for a long time. To make room in the basement for my workshop, all my fishing/boating stuff had to go. I gave most of it away to friends who still fish/boat. Last summer my friend Jim told me he caught a small tuna on one of the rod/reels I gave him. That made me happy.
