June 19, 20233 yr Good Monday morning! Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks! A new forum I'd like to introduce our newest forum. After some back room discussion with our hosts and admin, we thought it'd be fun to try something new around here, so we built our newest community feature "The Pay it Forward" forum. In this forum, you'll be able to give away tools and what-nots to your fellow community members. The recipients will pay your favor forward at a future time, here in our community, or in their own personal lives. This is an honor system feature. We all have those "things" laying around our shop, it's too much of a hassle to list it on Ebay, we don't want to throw it away, but we'd love to just give it away. Or, perhaps we just want to do something nice, our world could sure use some more "Nice" right! The only obligation the recipient has, is to pay postage, and pay it forward. Enjoy this wonderful new department here on The Patriot Woodworker, I do hope it catches on. I will find something in my own shop to list, I hope I'm the first one to list an item, unless you beat me to it! Click on this image to be taken to your new forum The Classifieds forum The classifieds forum has been removed in order to make room for our new "Pay it Forward" forum. Welcome new members To view our newest members and welcome them to our digs, please see our Members Page, you can "Sort" by join date and click on their names and be taken to their profile page where you can leave a message of welcome. Thank you for making our newest folks feel welcome. Featured Topic Most downloaded Featured video Plastic of the 18th Century! Yes, that's we call it today! @aaronc you may like this one
June 19, 20233 yr Popular Post Monday? Monday?? Leave it at that...71 mostly cloudy degrees outside. Two items from the Yard Sales Saturday morning.. Workmen used to carry their tools to a work site in either a wooden tote, or..a Canvas Bag.. Un-do those straps... Pull out whatever tools you needed that day, and go to work... This was $5 out of the $9 I spent....the other $4? DeWalt No. DW 625, 3hp Plunge router....Have to order the Collet , Collet Nut next payday..Have the knobs installed..and I think I have a 22mm wrench for the nut on hand. Had better luck with these 2 items, then with installing a tray in a box..
June 19, 20233 yr Few errands after Men's breakfast Saturday. Accomplished Father's Day nap yesterday then daughter/SIL had us over for a cookout. Still trying to learn nuances of new phone and getting everything to transfer from old to new. 10U single elimination baseball tourney game tonight; 12U tomorrow night. Anticipate the seasons for both will end. Some yard work on tap. Maybe focus on some other PhD assignments. On-line auction I have some interest in closes Wednesday. To mow or not to mow, that is the big question.
June 19, 20233 yr Monday? Is that supposed to mean something? 1 hour ago, Grandpadave52 said: Some yard work on tap. Now that the chipper, and log splitter are working again I'll have to clean up that mess I made working on clearing out the woods. 1 hour ago, Grandpadave52 said: To mow or not to mow, that is the big question. Only if I get caught up to the above. Besides that, the longer I let it go a bunch more "Wildflowers" are showing up.
June 19, 20233 yr Popular Post Busy this past weekend. Marie's health is getting worse, especially over the past 4-5 weeks or so. So last week the local strawberries came in big time and we (or at least one of us) wanted to make some strawberry rhubarb pies to put away for the future. So this meant that I was doing more than my usual share of the work. Saturday we (me) went to work cleaning/hulling/cutting the berries, then the rhubarb. I'll point out that I can't be trusted to measure the secret ingredients provided by the internet. So Marie carefully out each batch of filling for one pie...then I mixed it up and put it in the pie shell where she took over and placed the top crust on...then I would bake it. We fixed up 6 pies, got 'em baked and then froze/wrapped and stored away. Doesn't sound like much but I was pooped.
June 19, 20233 yr Well it’s Juneteenth so in celebration of history, I am off work for some reason and I am using the time to keep working on the bed project.

Started turning some spoons and spatulas. Fixed the hinges on the microwave. Got someone over to replace the shingles that the wind blew off the hip ridge last week. Hope that is the last of all that wind and rain. Edited June 20, 20233 yr by Gerald added post
June 20, 20233 yr Had to retire my old HP desktop PC over the weekend. Had it for 14ish years. It was showing signs of a failing hard drive and a processor that had signs of dementia. Ordered a new/faster yet refurbished HP desktop PC from Newegg.com which arrived Saturday. Came with Window11, which turns out to be a network data bandwidth hog. Guess Microsoft assumes everyone has a fast internet connection. I don't, and compared to web access I had with that decaying PC the new one seems very distracted with widgets and updates and other greedy demands on my limited bandwidth. As for woodworking, I've been drawing up 1/2 scale vectors for my reclining chair design. My bucket list forces me to prove that the design works, but doesn't care how big it is so long as the built version can prove that it works. For 1/8 the material (1/2 cubed) I can make the working prototype with what I have on hand and find a place for it on a shelf. Finding a place for a full sized version will require a larger house. If I do ever decide to make a full sized version I can easily re-scale the vectors to full size. 4D

Best way to find the original collet is to buy a new one to replace it. Something to do with Murphy's Laws. I own that same router but mine now hides stealthily among the flock of other routers I also own. It ducks behind the newer trim routers to avoid my reach when I'm after a router. Sneaky. 4D Edited June 20, 20233 yr by 4DThinker
June 21, 20233 yr As for that Tool Bag.....go and watch a movie called "Busy Bodies" and you will see just about the same bag being carried by Stan Laural... His might be a hair bigger, but.... Right now, it is sitting out in the Gazebo...airing it out. So...how does one clean Canvas?
June 21, 20233 yr Author 2 hours ago, steven newman said: So...how does one clean Canvas? I'd say ya don't Steve, IMHO. Specially if it used for work. But I guess you could soak it and spray it down with bleach, then rinse, and spray with vinegar to neutralize the bleach, I think that's what is used.
