Thanks, I am trying to talk the wife into further walnut accents on the headboard but so far she is not convinced.

Needs drawers underneath for storage. And then you can skip dusting.

Love the corner castle joint!  Smart idea to reinforce the rails there.   Love the hand screw clamp detail as well.  I suggest rotating it 45 degrees in plan view to reduce the chance of tripping on it.  A notch in both jaws will help it clamp to the post at 45 degrees.   ;)

Made a little progress tonight. One of the side rails is done and the other is in the clamps.

Progress has been made today.  Still trying to figure out how I want to do the headboard but everything else is coming together nicely

Slats roughed in.  Made decent progress today and I think I have the headboard figured out.  Guess we will find out tomorrow :)

A suggestion:

* Put a leg in the middle of the center rail. It's common with king and queen beds

For a center leg, consider that human upper torsos are where most of our mass is.  So rather than centered on the center rail put it 2/5 of the length from the headboard or there abouts.

Might not make much obvious difference as hopefully the design is plenty strong, but the former structures class TA I played in college can't help but question common assumptions most make when there is a still time to encourage a slight structural improvement change.

As for the headboard, are you planning adding any detail to it or a curved or stepped top edge?

Went with a slightly stepped top edge with a slight angle that matches that of the legs then rounded and smoothed it out.
