Friday May 12th 2023-What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Friday again Folks. :D

:ChinScratch: I'm back from "Three Weeks From Anywhere" but now I'm not sure if I'm caught up a week, or another week behind. :WonderScratch:

We did manage to get enough of the heavy snow damaged trees cleared out, the ground mostly leveled, and the camper put into that area. Whew! :P

We also installed an outdoor water spigot in the rear wall of the barn, and ran a temporary hose, and electric cord to the camper.

We'll be putting in underground water/electric lines for an RV hookup in at a little later date.

Clearing the storm damage took a bit more time than Mark had figured, but I didn't think we did too bad for a couple of mid 60's misfits.

As to the weekend, I think I'm going to try to take it easy. I slipped while moving some of the storm damage, and landed on my butt!

Way it feels I may have jarred that :ArguingSmileys: KS loose. I've been taking meds that are supposed to break up what is about a dime sized cluster of those :ArguingSmileys: things.

:ChinScratch: Well, that's my weekend plans anyway, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

not much.

stuck with mostly soft foods until my crown is done in 2 weeks (don't want to mess up the temp one).  should do more chores outside, but some days I just don't feel it.  have a list.....

might help my neighbor tomorrow cut some 1/2 plywood to make some seat bottoms for some exterior metal chairs.  easy task.

Resawing and planing a bunch of scrap pieces for use on the scroll saw.

Phyl had an echo cardiogram two days ago. She's had a murmur for years. Now it sounds like she's going to need surgery. Not something we expected.

Will try to glue up this mess...sometime...

Supposed to be 15 slats there...Hmmm..don't think I have quite enough hands to do that...

Working on commission for Dice cups this afternoon. Finished doing first turn on 13 friend bowls yesterday. Supposed to rain but nothing so far today. Probably right when I come in from the shop.

thank you.

i did give the oak tree a fill up on the tree water bag (20 gal).  help it along this spring.  we had a decently wet winter, but i want it to do well.  had another tree out front that my wife Linda picked out and liked, but it didn't leaf out last year.  guess i should cut it down.

Working on some bandsawn boxes for graduation gifts for my granddaughter and her BFF.  Her's is a  musical note as she loves music and his is a vintage film camera as he's majoring in media production.   Still in the rough stages, but

Probably won't get much more done on them this weekend -- Woodworking club meeting tomorrow, then going to a play with granddaughters in it, Sunday afternoon vocal concert where a friend performs.  Got some plants purchased and planted for Mother's Day gifts, so that's out of the way.

Prayers to you both Gene. I understand. My wife met with cardiologist Thursday. Plan is to try a few non-surgical procedures for next couple of months. Her needed and impending back surgery is on hold for now per cardiologist.

Took Thursday and Friday afternoons but was able to get 85% of property mowed. Mower is giving me fits. May run for an hour or may run for 10 minutes before it dies. By the time it's cooled enough to troubleshoot and work on, it runs again.:BangingHead:

Plenty of outside work needed; all is dependent on the unpredictable weather. Need to clean all my hummingbird feeders, get filled and in position. Tomorrow church responsibilities, then take Mrs. out to lunch.

Praying for Phyl  gene. I have a lot of confidence in what cardiologists can do today. I had  quadruple bypass surgery about 22years ago. Obviously very serious surgery and it went without a hitch. Was out of the hospital in less than a week.

Is this a JD with the solenoid shut off on the carb fuel bowl?

If so replace the ignition switch. DAMHIKT ;)

Managed to bounce around long enough (about 2 Hrs.) to get half of next door done, feel like I've been kicked you know where by a mule. :Punched:

No solenoid. 20 hp, twin cylinder, water cooled Kawasaki. I replaced the carburetor and fuel pump last summer. Also had one coil go bad so put two new coils on it. It ran great after that with the rare occasion in extremely hot humid weather, if I idled too long it might throw a fit. Ran fine first time I mowed but cooler then. Acts like it's vapor locking (running out of fuel). Fuel cap is not vented but the tank is. Replaced the tank vent hose last year as well. I've insulated all the fuel lines especially those near the carburetor or where they run close to hydraulic lines. Also ran the valve clearances which were fine. Usually it will start right back up, run for 5-10 minutes then I have to run full choke to keep it going. Let it cool 1/2 hour to an hour, runs great for 30-40 minutes.

Battery needs replaced. I have to jump it if it sits for a week. This mower does have a very basic form of an ECM so wondering if battery voltage gets to low when mowing heavy grass and electric clutch is drawing enough to have low voltage going to ECM. Also need to check ignition switch connections but that's a pain.

I've had 3 Kawasakis in Deere front mount mowers. All three have done this around 500 hours. What fixes one doesn't work seem to work on the next one. I'd much rather have a Kohler engine although their early twins were junk. Not if, but when the right bank would drop a piston or rod.

Check voltage regulator, sounds like it may have a leaky diode.

Also check fuse box for burnt/loose connections where the fuses plug in, especially the alternator/charging fuse.

I've been using used deep-cycle medical scooter batteries in my machines for about 5 years now, they are required to replace them every 6 months.

Get them from a guy at 7-Mile Fair for $20.00. Fifth season on the zero turn, fourth on the log splitter, and both fired right up for the season.

Was lucky to get 3 seasons out of the standard lead/acid batteries.

Maybe??? Solid state. "Alternator" light only glows slightly at very low RPMs. Output at high idle 13.5-14.5 volts.

Was one of my next steps. Need good lighting and a telescope to see everything down in the underworld seat tunnel. A real PITA. I can get my arm down there, but then can't see diddly. Can't get my noggin in there well enough for my bifocals to kick in.
