May 5, 20233 yr Looks like we made it to another Friday. Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" the saga of broken vehicles continued last evening when the SDIL called when "her" 2011 Ford Focus died about 1 1/2 blocks from their house. So took a ride into town and put the code reader on and it showed several codes. Did manage to get it started and drove it back to their driveway in "Limp Mode". Will be checking it over better either today, or tomorrow. It was getting to dark to see much last evening. Well, looks like "my" weekend has been planned. What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
May 5, 20233 yr Popular Post It has been very windy most all week. I've a bunch of yard cleanup to do before I can mow the lawn. If the weather cooperates I may do a local car show. Not so much a car show as a car display at our somewhat annual spring celebration. Outside of that, painting cabinet doors and perhaps taking the next step which would be cutting out and painted drawer faces for the lower cabinets. Amongst 100 other jobs...
May 5, 20233 yr Popular Post Very busy last couple of days and will remain so until mid next week. We're keeping our two grandsons while daughter/SIL are in Cancun. Mostly shuttle service between school, various sport practices / games and social events. Need to go through my fleet of weedeaters and see if I can get one or two to run. Time to mow again which will be preceded by pick-up-stick game. Church responsibilities Sunday. Plenty of other jobs, chores, tasks to choose from as well. Sadly with my current commitments and schedule conflicts, I will not be able to run in the Indy 500 Mini-Marathon, attend the Kentucy Derby or King Charles III Coronation which all are scheduled for tomorrow. May 5, 20233 yr Author Looks like either the throttle body, or throttle position sensor. CMDTC P2111-A7 Throttle Actuator Control System Stuck Open. Yeah, Ok! In other words the electronic gas pedal no workey the electronic throttle body, so the powertrain control module decided to go into "Limp Mode".

May 7, 20233 yr Popular Post Got back from Jackson,KY. We did construction work on a new house to replace one destroyed by flooding. This one was way up on hill (mountain), about the last 1/3 mile was on a gravel one lane road winding up the side. First two days had lots of potholes. Then the "rehab" crew showed up and dug a deeper ditch on the uphill side, resulting in getting rid of most of the bad potholes but making the road even narrower. First day, a car ahead of us ran into the soft shoulder and luckily stopped or they would have flipped over. Got them pulled out. Fortunately, except for the last mile or so before the hillclimb, it was all expressway down and back. On site, we installed 4 interior doors, but the openings were 1.5" too narrow for the doors, so we needed to pull the studs, cut back the drywall and widen them. Installed battens on the remaining two sides of the house for board and batten siding. Installed framing, concrete board, and insulation on skirting for the 24" or so inches below the frame as the house was up on concrete block pillars. Framed out some interior windows. Installed outlets, GFCI, and switches throughout the house. Four of us tbe first two days, two more showed up on third day, and two more Thursday. The story was they had recovered from a flood in the late '80s. Then a few years ago got flooded again. Sank all their money into rehab, then had a total loss in the most recent rain. Gave up on that site and moved to the top of a mountain. FWIW, that town is there J.D. Vance ("Hillbilly Elegy") spent his summers with grandma and grandpa while living in a mill town the rest of the year between Cincinnati and Dayton.
May 7, 20233 yr Got the roses planted yesterday and mulch goes in today between raindrops. Turning some fresh Persimmon I have before the splits start. Well that was Friday, Guess I did not hit the submit button. Saturday was another story all together. When I got into the shop ; NO electricity . Tried several thinks and finally went for new breaker from house to shop, still no go. Best a electrician friend and I can come up with is when they put the post in for the fence they nicked the power line. Calling a regular electrician tomorrow to see what the story is going to be.
