April 28, 20233 yr Author ALso I will take as much snow as you folks feel like sharing. agreed with or without hurricane, but you do know trading inclement weather would be only fair you know.
May 11, 20233 yr Just saw this on social media- https://www.woodworkersjournal.com/video-how-to-plane-thin-stock/?fbclid=IwAR12tKDtwd69VmXjm5zcLG7AYsfYQcMxlfZnAxLfv0vFZnM3XQ0i-PIeBEY
May 12, 20233 yr I depends on how thin you are going. Most planers get down to about 3/16”. If you need to go less there are ways to manage it without a thickness sander. One way I have used is to use double sided tape. Stick the wood piece to a 3/4” pierce of using the tape and then you can plane down to 1/8” pretty easily and carefully peel it off using a wide razor scraping tool. Paul
May 24, 20233 yr you may very well be able to find a manual online...i found several referenced, so it depends on the number you have. 351.217130 351.233731 351.233831 per vintagemachinery web site 351 was made by Colovos Co.
May 24, 20233 yr it also may depend on the wood, if there is some grain run-out, a thin piece is liable to shatter. Some woods, like hard maple, also seem to be fairly cohesive.
May 24, 20233 yr Just yesterday, I took some walnut, maple, red oak and mesquite down to 1/8 using Paul's method. It had been rewsawn to 3/16.
