March 24, 20232 yr Love the look, although when my slow connection finally showed the first photo it looked like the box was leaning a bit with an attitude. A bit of "Hey look at me!" personality and whimsy. Your attention to detail gets an A+ as from experience I know it is those subtle details that separate the beginners from the pros. 4D
March 24, 20232 yr Author Someone suggested I add a couple items to the legs....he called them "Stretchers" so.. One on each end, tilted a bit and glued in place...then One in the center....He was worried the leg were a bit "flimsy" 1/4" thick Ash? Ok.. New can! Last time I bought a can of this stuff..it was $13.95 at Lowes.....today? $21.21 WITH my Mil. 10% discount! Ouch! Ok, boxes #1 and #2 got a coat of Witch's Brew earlier, today..the result? Box#1 is sitting out of the way....then, after a coat of the Amber Shellac was brushed on... Learned long ago, to leave the lids slightly ajar....if I ever want to open the box, again... Debate now as to whether to give the #3 box a coat of Witch's Brew, then a coat or three of shellac....or, just shellac the things 3 or four times, and call it good... Waiting on glue, again...
March 24, 20232 yr Good idea adding the stretchers. Closing the sides of the feet will give it an extra touch of elegent detail.
March 25, 20232 yr Author Popular Post Decided on just Amber Shellac for the finish..1st coat is drying, now.. Need the "Proper" Can opener.... Front view? Side view... And, yes I did the insides... And, a couple visitors, to try the place out... Hope they like the place.... This afternoon, I'll try to add another coat..or 2...320 grit between the coats? Stay tuned...
March 26, 20232 yr Author Has been hand sanded to 320 grit...2nd coat of Amber Shellac brushed on...this time, I remembered to do the back of the thing...

Eyes are really drawn to the grain pattern. 1 hour ago, steven newman said: ...this time, I remembered to do the back of the thing.. Meh, no biggie. Who's gonna look back there anyway?
