Question for Admin: Why couldn't I start a thread with this in the 'Old WW Machines' forum?

Maybe @Larry Buskirk or @John Morris can help.  I went over and tried and either of the first two options appear to be capable of starting a new thread in.

The above is what I get when I click on the "Start New Topic" button that is to the right of the "Forums" at the top of the listings. That button only brings up the listings for the Forum section above "The Old Machinery Discussion Forum". You need to go into the "Sub-Forum" section for "The Old Machinery Discussion Forum" before you can post. Each Sub-Forum has it's own menu.

Not sure I understand @frenchwwr. If you go here to a subform of the OWWM forum, https://thepatriotwoodworker.com/forums/forum/43-old-woodworking-machinery/

Do you see the "Start Topic" button?

:huh: Hopefully I explained that clearer than mud. :ChinScratch:

@John Morris

I see where the problem arises. If you try clicking on any of the lighter listings of the top "Start new topic" button you cannot get anywhere.

Click on Old Machinery and you should be able to start a discussion. It's problematic, I'll have to fix it but the work around is to just go that extra step and click on Old Machinery.

That's the way I've always done it, never tried using the button at the top.

@frenchwwr and @Larry Buskirk, I split this off into our Bugs and Issues forum, thanks for reporting this French! And thanks for your investigation Larry! It's a bad configuration for the OWWM Forum, I'll update it asap.

Also applies to the CNC, and ShopSmith sections.

Nice, thanks for the report Larry.

Just looked at those two forums Larry, all you have to do is click on the title and choose one of the drop downs, am I missing something?

:huh: I still get nothing if I click on the lighter titles, I just figured out that I have to click on the arrow left of the lighter title to access the drop down menu.

Clicking on the darker titles does bring up the drop down menu without having to go to the arrow left of the title.

@John Morris

Not sure if this might be browser specific, I'm using MS Edge.

It's the way I configured the menus. Not the greatest and can definitely use improvement!

Thanks to both of you for mentioning this.

I never noticed it before,

:throbbinghead:

Probably because I never used that button before.

I was trying to figure out where/why french was getting the menu he posted the screen shot of.

I just kind of use the "Seek and Destroy" method when looking through the sections myself.

is everything working as expected gents?
