Friday January 20th 2023-What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Friday again folks, we made it to the weekend!

:ChinScratch: Not sure how most of you fared with the weather system that moved through this week, but here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" the snow missed us. :P

 Now through Sunday is forecast to be in the low to mid 30's. Looks like I'll have to dress like Mommy dressed me to go put the Stepsons car back together. <_<

I sure am glad that Mark let us use his barn, working on a concrete slab sure makes it easier than working in our currently mudpit drive. ;)

That's what's on my Weekend Agenda, What's on Yours? :WonderScratch:

Pondering my next career move....

Oh, and that dresser.  Veining accomplished on all drawer fronts yesterday.  Had one slip in the jig, so it looks like one new front is to be made.  And then move on to edges and applying finish.

Have a lunch meeting on Saturday that SWMBO has been hounding me for months to attend.  They usually have it at night and that was always a convenient excuse for me to get out of it.  This month it's for lunch...

Early next week looks like rain is forecast; have a potential job lined up for later in the week; not sure when I will get the finish applied...

VA Dr. appt. this morning. Just a routine visit. Then,  back to  frustration central. I'll get this inlay thing done if it takes me a month of Sundays.

Gotta fill up the 250 on the way home from the clinic. It'll probably take about 20 gallons.  That'll slim down my already skinny wallet.

Weekends used to be something to look forward to.  Now, it's just another two days. I kinda like that.:OldManSmiley:

Still recovering from a torn up muscle pull in my leg calf, don't know what the heck I did, but I was running up the stairs over a week ago in our home, I was doing the ol skip a step run, don't know why I was running, just in a good mood I guess, and it felt like lightening struck my right calf all the sudden and I had go to the ground, saw the doc he said it's a really bad muscle pull, nothing torn, but I am having a hard time believing that, since it's been over a week or so, and I'm still having a hard time walking. I rode our field office stool for a couple days at work and couldn't stand it anymore, told the boss I'm going out to the field with my crew, I'll just sit in the truck and get ready for next jobs coming up, calculations, QC'ing plans etc, they were ok with that. The days went by a lot quicker away from the office!

So I was laid up last weekend, and this weekend looks to be the same, it's markedly better, but I feel like it's very close to re-injury if I do something wrong, and I need to be active at my work, or they may find a younger lad to do the work for me, we can't have that!

I have been watching ol Roy Underhill videos though, and catching up with the web, visiting my favorite folks at Mortise and Tenon Magazine, reading historical woodworking related articles and collecting things for our wiki, and I have been exploring more user friendly wiki software to transfer our existing wiki too, so not all is lost in laid up time.

Hope y'all are doing wonderful, great to see all these project coming in this last week, thanks Larry for keeping up the Friday topic, and have a safe weekend all!

Church men's breakfast tomorrow morning at a small old school diner. A few errands after. Church responsibilities Sunday. Pretty quiet weekend.

Shop remains closed due to hazardous climate change conditions.;) Most recent sampling reveals human tongues are prone to adhering to steel tools and surfaces. For those fortunate enough to be located in non-impacted areas, work safely. Do not attempt the tongue sampling technique near any rotating or reciprocating items.

Off to the theater shop Saturday.  I made 25 newel post caps from some reclaimed 2x8.  Did a 30 degree bevel using a tenoning jig.  Avoided _most_ of the screw holes and filled the rest with water putty, something I've not used in many years but was sitting in the cabinet.   Overnight staying with a couple granddaughters while their sister and parents are off to a gymnastics meet in TSUN.  Yesterday, I sorted out my sandpaper.  I don't think I'll ever need to buy more sandpaper in my life.  I am still trying to decide why I have some 9" disk sandpaper.  I don't have one that size and not sure I ever did.

Quiet weekend at home as usual.  Those small bowls are addicting and I keep making more.

I can certainly think of worse addictions!

The drywall guy will be here tomorrow to do the laundry room. It’s possible we may be able to paint on Sun. Static LV, wife and his in-laws are coming over tomorrow so it’s time to get the shop back in order. It’s pretty messed up at the moment.

What's yer next project Dab? It's going to be hard to top the one you just finished, all around beautiful and the emotional connection to that project, I'm anxious to see what you have brewing up next. :)

a friend sent me a pile of hardwoods, and i'm going to turn some into sawdust, and whatever survives that assault, will get made into an end grain cutting board.

walnut, teak, cherry, ash, white oak.  need to study the pile, figure out a cool pattern that uses the wood well, and then call in the saw blades!

just asked him to reimburse shipping costs, since the lumber was supplied by him.  he said whatever i don't consume in that project i can keep for other projects of my own.

my sister is coming to visit in March, and she and her friend might want to spend some time in  the shop making a box or 2.  her friend wants to make a box for her cremated pet.  small and easy.

and she kindly offered that if we don't get it done before they leave, that i can finish it up and ship it to them......(tapping my toes here)....the things you do for family.

For some reason, the Doctor seems to think I need to have a Heart Monitor....and has decided to have one implanted on me.     Other issues deal with dealing with Vertigo.

Take care on both fronts Bandit. Vertigo is not fun. Experienced that diagnosis a couple of times. The worst part was the nausea during the treatment and rehab. Good news about it though, your days as a fighter jet pilot are over.:P

Big social weekend hanging out with friends and family.

Maybe get to squeeze some shop time in to work on a project for the wife.

She wants a replica of this side table so we will see what can be done.

I like that! Of course with your fine talents, your drawers are going to be better fitting right! ;)
