When we got ready to fly out, there was maybe 1/2" of rain that caused 2 hr. delays. I'm thinking the people from places like Oregon must be smacking their heads.

I might opt to do the state stuff on line....but I really dislike doing that. I should point out, our only income (besides SS) is the draws I make from our IRAs, the 1099s showed up (on line) today. We have such simple taxes anymore (no deductions worth itemizing) it doesn't take long to do them. We don't get all our 1099s for a while yet. And we often get revised ones in March or so. But definitely easier than when I was a sole proprietor running a business. We got some checks from our brokerage last week. Turns out there was some fuzzy wording in some of their prospectuses years ago and settled with a payment. Was a big surprise, much bigger than the other class action suit that sent me $14.87 for my share. Hardly worth my time to fill out all that paperwork that made the lawyers lots of money.

Probably only cost $1000 for all the transactions to issue, mail, account for that. Hope that didn't throw you into a higher tax bracket.

January 11, 20233 yr A few years ago, we moved our IRAs from an investment service to a brokerage with robo-advisors. We got a slew of class action suits on the former, on the latter, the mutual fund managers take care of all that stuff. We watched the Madoff documentary on Netflix this week. Very interesting stuff that went on there.

January 12, 20233 yr Slow progress on the Stepsons Cobalt, still moving kind of slow. Was working on it yesterday afternoon when Mark got back from up north, and no sooner does he get back and another former co-worker called looking for "HELP". So, off to Gabe's we go to to see if we could fix a water leak that had 3/4 of his basement floor covered in 1/2" of water. Gabe couldn't get a plumber that could come right away, Two told him maybe 1-2 days before they could get there. Gabe can't do stairs at the present time so had someone shut off the water, but that someone didn't quite do so. They had shut off the supply valve to the house plumbing but failed to shut the well pump off, so water was still spraying out of the leak which was the barbed hose fitting had rusted through where the well pump line connects to the plumbing system. So, off to Menards and $25.00 later for replacement parts Gabe has water again. We know the barbed hose fitting we put in won't rust out, it's Brass. Now where did I leave off?

WOW, Laguna is amazing and delivers customer service. Tomorrow AM will be re-arranging things in garage to store unit until warmer weather prevails. Garage is a mess. Wish it were warmer. Still, very exciting. SIL is off work so he's going to help. Just getting back to updating this. Above was from Monday post. I made a little progess Monday afternoon beginning clean-up and rearrange to find a spot to store but just got to darn cold. Tuesday (scheduled delivery day between NOON-4P) got an early start. More like a spring day than mid January. Anyways, got a good start; things were going well; found several things I'd "lost" the past couple of years, things I forgot I had...well you get it. I pretty much lost most of 2021 from my back surgery and rehab. So long story short, freight company didn't show as scheduled Working on a reschedule date or I may just PU at the local terminal. Either way won't be until mid next week due to weather and SIL work schedule. No big deal really. They won't charge any storage since they screwed up. The worst thing out of it is I can't find anything since I cleaned up and rearranged that area of the garage

You have to love how those freight companies work (or don't work, as the case may be). I had so much trouble with my TS delivery (this was 6 years ago) I wound up going and getting myself...70 miles one way.
January 12, 20233 yr After removing all of the plastic B.S. I'm finally almost to the point of lowering the engine/trans cradle assembly. Now where the heck did I put that tie-rod seperator tool.

The sad thing is they called me on Monday and asked if delivery on Tuesday would work. All the stars aligned, weather, help, no other commitments so yeah, let's do it. In all their apologies etc. for not making it happen as requested by them, what resonated with me they were/are short handed, different people doing others tasks and so on. Like many businesses today finding, retaining quality help that want to work is no doubt a challenge. I just wish they would have called to say "we're not going to make it." That said, I did get a lot of other things done that have been neglected for far too long. For me, round trip to pick-up is about 65 mile. I can make stops at Rural King, Menards and Harbor Freight if needed or even if not needed while in Boilertown East. All is good. I'm still blown away how fast Laguna got everything shipped.
