October 17, 20223 yr Popular Post Got the cold wife broght back from SIL's Friday afternoon. Surviving on Alka-Seltzer Cold & Cough to keep Niagra Snoz under control. Helped take down an Ash tree Saturday, spent about 5 hours running the chipper. Hauled first load back with the chipper, unloaded wood and chipper Sunday morning. Went and got second load, still have to unload sometime today weather permitting. Will need to take chainsaw to cut trunk into managable sized pieces. Still another load to haul. I'm pooped.
October 17, 20223 yr Popular Post Finally got the garage refresh done - epoxy floor, painted walls, and some new shelving. It only took 5 weeks - that's warp speed for me. SWMBO was a bit lukewarm about the project initially, but she likes it now.

October 17, 20223 yr Popular Post All day Friday at the hospital for step-father's hip surgery. Mens breakfast Saturday AM, then back to hospital for a while. While there, he had first session of PT. Went very well. Headed back to hospital in a bit. If he continues doing well he could be released to a rehab facility as early as tomorrow. Saturday PM on to big city to get a face-to-face progress report on the Buick. Saga drags on. New engine wiring harness supposed to arrive today and installed by EOD tomorrow. Seems to be an abundance of parts replacers out there but very few diagnostic technicians both in independent and factory dealerships. Stopped by Menards after to pick up a few items Yesterday, after church, lunch, a few errands, wife and I went road farming for a while. Looks like soybean harvest is mostly completed. Still a good deal of corn in the fields though. The fall colors are nearing peak and are the most vivid I can recall in many years. Glad we took the time. Rain/snow hard freeze coming tonight and tomorrow so outside work will come to a halt for a few days. Meeting with Insurance agent for annual policy review tomorrow. Maybe there will be some good news there? Lots of other projects if I can get my get-up-and go charger to plug in. Appears it's for 220 and I'm only wired for 110.
October 17, 20223 yr Went next door and helped get boiler fired up this morning. After all the work we did last last years heating season it was just a matter of firing up the air compressor for the pneumatic controls, opening the water supply valve, and turn on a couple of circuit breakers to fire up "The Beast". I'll be doing the "Tunnel Walk" sometime Wednesday to clear the sediment and steam traps. So far haven't found any leaks. Supposed to be 70° here Friday, it's SNOWING here now.
October 17, 20223 yr Popular Post Working the J.O.B and no surprise they saved all my work from last week for me to do this week. Car is still in the shop, hoping to hear the verdict today or tomorrow. Found a Jet JWBS14-SFX 14 in. 1.75 HP bandsaw on sale for about $500 off and put in my order. Has the features that I wanted. Not a huge fan of Chinese tools, I wish we could bring manufacturing back to the USA. .40

Just load up the logs and drive them down to Brenham, Texas . .40
October 17, 20223 yr Popular Post Had a great woodturners meeting Saturday, did a lot of eating and talking. For today back to prep of the panels for cabinet. Planning for a demo teaching at a local high school tomorrow with woodturners. Hope to start final sanding on panels in next couple days, Oh what fun!!
October 18, 20223 yr Popular Post Got bored, just sitting around, today, so..... Both frames are now dry fitted together. Stile #4 is in the Mortise Jig... Will start on raising the 8 panels that go into these frames, Tuesday...maybe? Stay tuned...
October 18, 20223 yr Popular Post Out of state guest here for a few days. Even though she's a fellow woodworker, shop work is suspended until Thursday. Got a shipment of a few, much more aggressive, wire wheels to aid in mesquite rounds clean up. Should speed up the process somewhat on the next two. I'm enjoying this job so much, after these three are done, I may think about making a couple more for our house. Edited October 18, 20223 yr by Gene Howe

The tables are as big as I want to tackle, nowadays. Tha passion is there, the old muscles are what's waning.
October 18, 20223 yr Popular Post Step-father was moved late yesterday afternoon to Long Term Care/Rehab facility where my wife works. She said he was doing well this AM considering. I'll stop in the PM before meeting with insurance agent. A couple errands later. Spent yesterday late cleaning burners on furnace and getting it ready for the season. Fired it up last night to take the chill off. Up to now we had just been using a central located quartz infrared heater as needed. Still pretty early for the furnace but sometimes comfort supercedes frugality.
