July 18, 20223 yr Popular Post Found my wedding ring yesterday afternoon. It was in an area I had searched at least a half dozen times. Spotted a glint of yellow, and low and behold there it was. Wasn't looking for it when I found it. Now hopefully the missing key to the zero-turn will reappear. @John Morris Is my "Two Weeks From Anywhere" calender a day off?

July 18, 20223 yr In the shop, a few scrap walnut glue ups for eventual scroll saw work. Nice thing about scroll saw work, small cut offs are usable. Also, need to get those mesquite rounds cleaned up for table tops. Not a job I'm looking forward to as, it needs to be done outside....in the heat. It'll be under an awning but, it'll still be 107°, regardless. Phyl hasn't let up with her needlework, at all. She's taking 3 quilt tops to the "long arm" gal today. They'll come back with the batting and backing done. She just retrieved a couple of her cross stitch masterpieces from the framer at Hobby Lobby. One of these days, I've got to get serious about frame construction. Sure would save a bunch of $$$. One of our DILs' birthday is 7/16. Phyl has a lap quilt and, a large cross stitch piece framed and, ready as gifts. I'm beginning to feel a bit inadequate.
July 18, 20223 yr Popular Post Writing Desk is done....tool well has been cleaned up....need to finish putting away the tools. Camera has died...keeping the battery and the chip...intend to buy the camera's replacement Wednesday..... Have a stash of thin "scraps" I can build a box or two out of....might go back to hand-cut box/finger joints.... Shop is closed, today....that "Monday" thing...

July 18, 20223 yr Successfully returned from a family reunion and getting back into the swing of things. On the bench this week is a bench or parts thereof, the legs for the split top Roubo are progressing nicely and I am waiting on the delivery of a brace and some auger bits to progress to the nest phase. Other than that, I am finishing up the finish on the joiners mallet I started before heading out on vacation.

July 19, 20223 yr Popular Post The shop is open here but apparently monsoon season started early this year so it is muggy as all get out. The order of the day is sharpening random things, sketching out a strange Japanese inspired alter table that my wife saw and HAS to have, in between cutting mortises. The proportions on this thing are a significant amount of guesswork and then I need to tailor the whole thing to the space she has designated for it in the entry way. That is going to be an interesting winter project. Progress is being made on the workbench. The left side legs are as far as I can get them until the auger comes in later this week. Started the right side legs tonight and those are progressing well. Rails are all marked out for tenons for the left side so I could probably cut those this evening but I am running out of motivation in the sticky air.

July 21, 20223 yr Popular Post New camera has arrived...get used to the new set ups....Camera is about the size of a White Castle's Slider.... Seems to work, though.....will see how it does IN the shop....
July 21, 20223 yr Popular Post Cleared off this: To dedicate myself to sharpening • edging • burring. Introduced 3-in-1 Oil to the process. Wow, what a difference in dressing the scraper. The Process is not to sweat the quantity of items wanting attention, but to focus on one item at a time and get it right.
