February 28, 20224 yr Popular Post Monday ... I'll know shortly whether "The Battle of The Boiler" is over. Replaced two out of the three remaining steam trap valves. The last one will require a bit of work to get at. The previous building owner had raised the floor in the area of that convector and went around it leaving zero access to the valves. However, replacing those two valves stopped the remaining steam leak into the condensate return line. Still have a little work to do on the unit-ventilators rebuild of the sticky control valves, cleaning, and filter replacement. Also, will be going for our "booster jab" later this morning. ... Rest of the week? ... TBD.

I can report a job as "done" over the weekend I completed window sash #2, and followed that up with a few pics on the original thread. Pics of the first sash were sent to my buddy, his birthday was yesterday. He did like it Today I am going to see if I can find an eyeglass place that can do an eye exam and fix me up with new glasses. Last week I stopped where I got my last pair and they said they were not taking any new customers for the eye exam as 4 out of 5 docs had quit. My BIL & SIL reported the same thing at a different eyeglass place where they go. I have to wonder where all the eyeglass docs have gone? The doc I have been seeing for the past 30 years retired last year, so I am looking for a new place. This week, planning to work on a headboard for a twin bed, and probably start working on mirrors and such for sash #3
February 28, 20224 yr Popular Post Grandsons spent the weekend with us. Plan to celebrate daughter's birthday tonight. It was Saturday, but she had a fund raising event for work, then boys had travel league basketball after church yesterday. Mrs. Grandma GrandpaDave took today off so IDK what she has planned for me yet? Cat has to go back to the vet tomorrow for wound inspection and bandage change. He has improved significantly the past couple of days. Antibiotic seems to be helping. May get some shop piddling in as the weather is supposed to improve this week. Tomorrow marks 1 year anniversary of 1st trip to the hospital and what has become a long recovery journey for my back. It has become pretty evident its unlikely I'll regain full feeling and use of my right leg again nor be pain free so I guess it's time to move on and accept what I can do versus what I can't. I'm blessed far more than others.
February 28, 20224 yr Popular Post Morning to ya..you just had to wake me up and tell me this IS a Monday..... Boss has errands today....I have a follow up Doctor's visit tomorrow. Might try to work on 2 small boxes this week, maybe?
February 28, 20224 yr Popular Post Today is a road trip. I have to drive to Anaheim ( 5hrs) and back today for some testing and inspect some work on the boat before I pay the guy. Also get to have dinner with the grandkids which is always fun. Paul
February 28, 20224 yr Popular Post Waiting on the Appliance Repair man. Warranty work on the new refrigerator ice maker. Still putzing with the "free library". Door fitted yesterday. One to the roof.

I'm blessed far more than others. Hang in there, Gramps! I had an incident at work in my mid twenties which resulted in severe sciatica in my left leg. The nerve was damaged and there was little if any feeling in the leg. Stairs were a nightmare, since I had to keep the leg straight at all times or the knee would just collapse, dumping me on the floor. The doctors advised against operating, and suggested I give it time. Physio, braces, canes and pain meds didn't help much, but the nerve eventually regenerated enough to let me walk normally without pain, even up and down stairs. In my case it took about 15 years to heal completely, but seeing as how you're SO much younger than me, it should take you no time at all! And I agree with you on that last comment! I can think of so many who never made it to our age.
February 28, 20224 yr Popular Post Should get out and inspect out buildings after this wild winter. Going to get a few nice days to do it. Have some house cleaning to do.
February 28, 20224 yr Popular Post Cleaning guns this morning and hope to make it to range in next couple days. Cleaning up some of the turning wood in the shop to cut off some waste and make more space for that wood in the yard. Have and event at the museum last three days of the week so that will be fun
February 28, 20224 yr @Grandpadave52 Sorry to hear your recovery isn't progressing as hoped. Keep the faith for more significant improvement.

You both know all too well from sons taken far too early. Yet another reminder of my blessings. God bless you both! He has blessed me far more than I deserve. 9 hours ago, Al B said: @Grandpadave52 Sorry to hear your recovery isn't progressing as hoped. Keep the faith for more significant improvement.

Reading about your ordeal that you've been through, particularly early on, I would say that you've made some pretty good progress. Spring is right around the corner, and with that (at least for me) provides a bit of a boot to get up and feel like doing more. Hope that might translate into being able to get up and do more!
