BIL&SIL are here for a month. They are in their 5th wheel. We've planned out several sightseeing trips in and around Tucson. Today is a desert garden with a pottery plus, a bistro. At some point in the future, we'll visit a couple of artist's studios and a couple galleries in Tubac and Tumacacori. That's always fun for my BIL and I because, there's a few Mesquite furniture and wood carving exhibits, down there. And the ladies like the extensive displays of blown glass and stained glass doodads. And, we usually cap off the trip at a great Mexican restaurant for some great food and a few Margaritas. Phyl is usually the DD.:D

I did finish off the first of three window sashes and started on the second.  And I watched a good ball game last night :)

Saturday went as planned with the exception of me drinking wine. I worked on a bottle of forgotten Tanqueray that I put in the freezer before Xmas. It didn't help my backgammon play, but I was a happy loser.

Played in the shop all weekend pretending I was cleaning.  Put a good dent in the playing not so much the cleaning.

Don't over exert yourself.;)

Not much shop time today, off to help a friend change ISP's and email programs. They are not computer savvy so it may take a while.

Worked on handles again in the shop. Kinda a slow WE with all that cold that came and went.

Hope to start on a whistling top today

Basically did squat over the weekend unless I could do it from my chair.

I did manage to watch a lot of swimming from the comforts of my recliner via the inter-web. Youngest grand-daughter did well for her team during the conference championships; in fact, she swam the best of her life-time. Every event she swam (both qualifying & finals) she swam personal best times. She did have a couple of podium finishes (4th & 5th) with two of the relay teams.

I'm most proud, I think, of her swim in the 1650 yard free-style event. She never had swam that event in a competition; couple that with she had just completed the NCAA-COVID return to competition protocol four days prior, had missed two weeks of practice, she swam the 3rd best all-time, time for her school in this event. While she didn't quality for the finals that night (only top 6), she did come back and swim a personal best 100 yards in her leg of the 400 yard free-style relay. Great end to her Freshman collegiate swim year; she's still in the clouds:D  Nice to see 10 years of countless hours, miles, etc. shuttling to/from practices, events etc. paying dividends.

Not much planned for the week beyond normal stuff. May go sit in the garage and just look around Wednesday as we could see mid 50's.

Hope the IRS is faster for you. Almost a year now waiting on Mom's return.

On Saturday the two local grandchildren came for the afternoon. While I was cooking for them our grandson told us how his teachers had selected and recommended him for all honors classes next year. At least he will be with other students who are desiring to learn instead of the arguments and anger of normal classes.

Sunday I did some laundry and locating mahagony and cherry that I want to work on this week. Today, wiped the Shopsmith with lacquer thinner and put on a new coat of Minwax paste wax. It is now all clean and slippery. The plan this week is to do some turnings for a cousin.

Went to the furniture bank this morning, I repaired 4 pieces including a dresser that I had to make 6 new pulls for and then got two more pieces set up for finishing up next trip.   The rest of the crew assembled 24 tables in a bit less than 3 hours.  The furniture bank is desperately low on tables right now,

Afternoon, I finished up a V-day present and then got my dovetail miter key jig set up and running.

we were at a small show down in Chicago this weekend. was a fun challenge because we couldn't take the cargo trailer (parking issues) so I piled all I could into the Chevy Colorado. got to the venue and realized I left our cart home. ok I get to carry each tote in wasn't the first time. get inside, find out we're on floor #2 start carrying up the steps. the only elevator was a small residential type lift. barely enough room for a person. was in luck though because there were some young guys there to help carry things up. for pack out we weren't as lucky because they were busy helping others.
All told sales were just 3 times booth fee, not what we would consider a successful event. we didn't lose money but made just as much in the superbowl pools during the ride home.
Next show is 2.5 weeks away so busy in the shop making rolling pins, end grain cutting boards, pizza peels, pizza cutters, and hope to turn some pens.
Maybe I'll run to the store and get ductwork for the dust collector so I don't need to drag hoses around.

 a great Mexican restaurant

Sounds grand! Which restaurant?  El Ray in Globe closed; they were a fave for enchilada-style burritos.

Santa Cruz Chili & Spice is in Tumacacori.  Their green salsa is the best on this world.

Our favorite place in the Tubac/tumacacori area is called "Mystery". South of Tumacacori about a mile. That corridor between Tucson and the border is replete with great Mexican food establishments. But, the whole greater Tucson area is known, among the locals, for great food of all types. And, if you ever tire of the more esoteric offerings, there's always Cracker Barrel.:P
