That is amazing bowl. Wood type? What speeds?

I like it Rusty.  Looks good for turning so much air.  Don't appear as though it will need much sanding.

Spalted Maple. I bought some from a guy that were 7” by 9” by 8 feet long. I was trying to make an oval bowl but with it being a rectangle instead of a log the sides were flat. This is a sample of the wood I bought.

Great looking piece you have there. Those would make great hollow forms also. You should try some endgrain bowls. One of the demonstrators we have thru (Mark Sillay) does all his bowls endgrain. It makes for some interesting patterns in the grain.

I will have to try an end grain bowl.
