December 10, 20214 yr Popular Post Friday again folks, and it looks like yhpruM just couldn't leave us alone before the year ended. Wife went to change TV channel last night and the TV decided to lock up on of all channels FOX. Can't access menu through remote or buttons on the set. Couldn't watch "Toon In With Me" this morning. Have to see what I can find on the cheap, don't want a "Smart" TV. With my luck they're probably stuck somewhere on a container ship. So, What's On Your Weekend Agenda?
December 10, 20214 yr Popular Post That's a bummer, Larry. Why not a "smart TV"? Can you still find a dumb one? Starting on the three walnut bedside/end/occasional tables for three different non paying customers...i.e. grand kids. Plans from Wood magazine.
December 10, 20214 yr Popular Post Gene, I built that Limbert table...it's actually not as easy as one would think. First Limbert piece I ever built, your granndkids will treasure it. the one I made started in our last house. When we moved I stretched the pieces together and packed them up. It was onlly when unpacking here (3 or so years later) I found it and remembered what I had done. So it only took me 3-4 years to build.

We get 90+ channels on our antenna, and don't watch probably over half of those. Gave up cable/sattelite because of being charged for channels we never watched. Not into "Alternate Reality" shows. We turn off the news when they get into that crap.
December 10, 20214 yr Popular Post Still tinkering with rolling pin holders. Ready for the finish but need to clean the shop a bit before doing that. Hey, @Larry Buskirk, maybe new batteries in the remote or unplug the TV for a minute or so and try again.

I wish I had some QSWO but alas, walnut will have to do. What is it that makes it less than an easy build? I can see where some precise cuts will be required.
December 10, 20214 yr Popular Post Christmas gifts are all made. Time to put the finish on. Not my favorite part of the job.

I've had similar happen on our LG (not so smart) TV as well as Dish receiver. I've had to do both at different times. So far, always cures issue.
December 10, 20214 yr Popular Post Have "Graduated" from the leg therapy, this morning...after Lunch, have to take the Boss to the store. Might try my hand at making labels for these 2 boxes.. Have them airing out, at the moment....labels will get placed on the lids.. Then a coat or 2 of gloss poly over the whole mess?
December 10, 20214 yr Popular Post Still operating under the extended 2 hour delay due to heavy fog here so not highly motivated yet. Grandsons have travel league basketball games tomorrow AM. Gonna try to catch those. Work still to be done on granddaughter's Trailblazer. Supposed to be warm enough but storms in forecast; in fact NWS just issued an update for moderate risk for severe storms tonight thru tomorrow. See what happens. Sunday School & Church Sunday followed immediately by our annual Christmas carry-in meal. Meal was canceled last year due to COVID, so I have two years of eating including desserts to partake. Just turning 69 has perks too since us "old folks" get to be first in line.

What is it that makes it less than an easy build? I can see where some precise cuts will be required. One set of the legs have to be glued together with the lower shelf in place, spanning the other set of legs, and those legs (as I recall) had dowels in them to hold them together. Getting the dowels/holes aligned while holding the other pieces in place was one of those 3 handed jobs. Then everything had to be fairly precise so that the top of the leg assembly was flat for the table top. I think the piece would look really good in walnut.
December 10, 20214 yr Popular Post I'll have to go looking for something in the shop to do. Might have another one ready for 2nd turning...maybe not. I've been hearing some clucking from the chair next to mine in the parlor. Have a feeling that the subject of Christmas decorations is going to rear it's ugly head. .40

I can see that it's going to be a whole lot of fun! Pprobably, by the time I get to the third one I'll hopefully have it all figgered out. Edited December 10, 20214 yr by Gene Howe

December 10, 20214 yr Popular Post And, when the season passes, the take down and re packing jobs loom forebodingly!

December 10, 20214 yr Popular Post me and some 2 part epoxy have a date to fix up the large chile that normally hangs on the gate. the top end is weathering and i see some end grain rot starting, so the plan is to pour some epoxy into the voids and buy a few more years before i have to make a new one. an older picture from some years ago: no snow yet this year, just some light rain overnight.
