Been tied up with so much outside and prepping for craft shows so have not done much turning of unique items lately. Our club meeting is Saturday and the challenge is an embellished box. So here it is . The finish is wet in this pic so finial will be softer. 7A8FB06C-73E1-40C1-A30F-0BA111CAB2B6.jpeg.c2cb8e78a32c632e33c9c86aa2c26f84.jpeg

this was turned from a cherry limb and rather than embellishing the top I let the rings show.

Lew yes Sorby mini. It is most of the time my go to, but also use a Wagner, the larger one. I want to get a Wagner 1/4 inch to be more versatile. Decorating Elf is also fun but I find it is not that great on sides like this, but works great on bottoms.

Sure looks good from here!!

Looks good Gerald. I also like your drying stands, great tip for old blades.

Wow!  Love the lopsided tree rings. And, love all those burned rings and the decorative tooling on the sides.  Awesome box.  I think you are up to the challenge.

Wow Gerald that is awesome. To me it is a very professional job when you can’t tell where it opens at just by looking at it.

Burn in rings are an old trick for boxes and two piece hollow forms to disguise that it is a two piece turning. I usually use the center ring as the joint but it can be any of the rings, just balance it to the size of the piece.
