Although unsigned, this rifle can be identified as the work of Nicholas Hawk, a gunsmith active in the eastern part of Northampton (later Monroe) County. Less elaborate than some rifles made by Hawk, it still displays the chief hallmarks of his individual style, including a long and narrow patch box with a spiky head piece, simple but effective decorative engraving on the brass fittings, and the dramatically elongated contour of its slender gunstock, made of curly maple with dark diagonal striping on a light-brown background. Coming off a pretty nice weekend and rushing headlong into the coming week.  Lots to do, and may even get to call a couple projects "done".

Did a cruise in with the Pontiac on Saturday afternoon, the first in a long time.  It was cool-ish out, but sunny and very nice.

Had a large and most excellent Easter meal yesterday, not sure what to call it at 4:00 in the afternoon - too late for lunch, too early for supper...

Also got a first coat of paint on the new front door.

The week ahead, should be able to finish painting and hang that door.  Should be able to call the dresser build done and put it in place.  With that in place I will be able to hang last week's mirror project.

Got to renew auto tags this week, mow lawn, clean out the shop, continue with the garage clean out, and just a slew of other small projects before I tackle the next, for me, learning project.

Yard work this week (at least until Thursday when it rains) interrupted by some DR. Appts. and a visit to the dog groomer. Any time left will be in the shop.

The shop rehab continues apace. Hopefully, most of the ladder work will be completed this week. That is until it's time for insulation. The metal for patching the dog holes should be ready for pickup today. If so, that's a good 3 or 4 day job. I'm old and slow. But, that tunnel light is getting brighter.

Weather permitting..

Was informed today I have two weeks of working 6 days.  Yeah about that 4 day work week.:BangingHead:. With a current contracted job and another potential one with longer term I may be saying 3 days or nothing.

Thanks for the post. Today was long. Went over to a widow of one of our woodturners to pickup a chest of drawers, probably a library card file in  a previous life. It has 30 drawers and half were full of mostly screws and bolts. I blew out some dust and stored what I thought I could use and the rest will be given away at the club picnic a week from Saturday. Then glued up a split on each side of the case. Now for tomorrow to decide if I want to refinish this solid wood case and drawers or leave as it is. Pictures tomorrow

Have to go get Oxygen tank for torch refilled. Neighbor somehow bent the axle on his trailer. :WonderScratch:

Got a call from the metal siding dealer informing me that my order could not be filled until next Thursday. And then, it'll be 26 gauge instead of the 29 gauge that was ordered. Oh well, there's plenty of other things to be done before I need to install the metal. That April 15 shop completion date is out the window. Maybe May 15. Even that seems optimistic.

:ChinScratch:...Heated axle stub to red hot, put 6' pipe over stub, axle pretty dang close to straight.  Was bent back, and up. <_<

Also put front brake pads on his (soon to be our) 2006 Honda Pilot. Kind of higher mileage (265K) but pretty clean, and runs, drives nice.

Was Florida vehicle.
