Popular Post lew Posted December 13, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted December 13, 2020 Mimi asked for one of these for Christmas. Never heard of them and I said what’s wrong with paper plates? I made two versions, one with a recess for a small ramekin the other without. The one she doesn’t like will be gifted. Made from scraps and finished with beeswax and mineral oil. The longer one is about 9” x 16”. Both are .5” thick. The first image is before the finish. JimM, Cal, FlGatorwood and 10 others 13 Quote
Popular Post FlGatorwood Posted December 13, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted December 13, 2020 Absolutely beautiful and superb craftsmanship. What kind of woods. One appears to be poplar. Gunny, Cal, Fred W. Hargis Jr and 2 others 5 Quote
sreilly24590 Posted December 13, 2020 Report Posted December 13, 2020 I can't tell for sure but are the side tapered? They look great and I need to do this as well. What are the dimensions? Been so busy building cabinets for the pantry I promised 18 years ago when we built the house and now a vanity for my son that he was supposed to be helping with........7 more drawers and a rail and stile raised panel door set to go. But yes, I'd like to make a few of these for both gifts and needed at home. FlGatorwood, p_toad, Cal and 1 other 4 Quote

lew Posted December 13, 2020 Author Report Posted December 13, 2020 (edited) @FlGatorwood Thanks, Steve! You're right, that one piece is poplar. The others are walnut, cherry, maple and purpleheart. @sreilly24590 Thank You, Steve! No, that taper is a function of the wonderful camera on the iPhone 11. I hate it! You'd think for all of the hype, they could have eliminated that! The longer one is approx 9" x 16" and 1/2" thick. The other is about 11" x 14" and 1/2" thick. I added little silicon stick on bumper feet to raise them off of the surface to make them easier to pick up. @Masonsailor Thanks, Paul! Edited December 13, 2020 by lew Cal, Fred W.
