December 12, 20205 yr Popular Post Years ago, I picked this at a yard sale....really, it was just laying in the grass...$10... Craftsman 13" Tilt Table. Today I gave that table a darn good cleaning....rust bunnies were trying to take over... not to mention the spiders.....actually the saw itself runs! Nice and quietly, too!Tilt seems to work.. And even locks in place. Even found a bag of blades for this saw... Yes, it takes pinned blades....May just keep it that way..... Reason this saw came out of hiding? Thinking IF i start making a bunch of these... I might just cut those finger joints with this saw.... Still have a bit of 3/4" plywood....may add a cleat, and bolt this to the plywood.....then I can clamp things up in the bench vise....maybe sitting towards the vise, where I can sit down and saw a while....That Cedar box isn't all that big..pencil for scale... We'll see how things go....just an old saw...
December 12, 20205 yr Author After an hour of standing at the bandsaw....cutting all them finger joints.....calves were getting a bit too crampy.....that is the main reason the old Craftsman was taken down out of storage....Figure I can set this up at the end vise....sit my rearend down on the shop stool....and cut all the live long day.....I seemed to remember the blades are a bit of a PITA to swap out....getting to the lower clamp seems to involve tilting the bed......Blades are by Olson.....I guess I will install them with the teeth cutting on the downward stroke?

If you do and install with the teeth cutting upwards you will give yourself a step everytime the board jerks up and slaps back down on the table! Speed that thing up and fitbit will think you are running all day!
December 12, 20205 yr Popular Post If your interested in some sit down work there are scroll patterns that don't require a drilled hole, perfect for pinned blades. A Steve Good example with just 3 holes.
December 13, 20205 yr Author Popular Post Ok...decided I needed a better way to sit this saw on a bench or tablesaw... Couple #12 screws, and a bit of 3/4" plywood.....I can either clamp it to the saw, like this....or a couple saws to set it up on the bench....replaced the wide blade with something a bit..skinnier... That red sawdust? Tried this out, to cut some dovetail...tails... Still have to do the pins the "old Fashioned way".... On the blade holders ...there is a second notch....to where a blade can be installed 90 degrees to the left or right.....no manual, just a guess... dang sawdust piles right up, hard to see the cut lines.....and I ain't windy enough...

Keep an eye out at yard sales for a small aquarium pump. Aim the hose towards the saw blade and that can clear the dust. A short piece of brake line in the hose works as well.
December 15, 20205 yr Author Couldn't find any. All it says is it is a .9amp, 13" cast iron base Scroll saw.
