November 29, 20205 yr Popular Post All hand tools ! Way beyond my skill and patience. Definitely requires a lot of motivation.
November 29, 20205 yr Popular Post It will take me the rest of my life with hand tools. I don't get enough hours in the day. That is a beautiful bench and you wouldn't have to be concerned about it failing. Yes, I want to see when Steve Newman gets started and finished. I bet it won't take 5 years. LOL

November 29, 20205 yr Popular Post You guys are putting a lot of pressure on Steve! Like this would be one of those 1 week projects! I think it would take him at least a MONTH to finish this.

November 29, 20205 yr Author One hybrid way to do the top is to laminate the legs in 3 layers. Miter the dovetail at an angle and match to a top lamination. then one cut short, then one cut square When you glue up the top, just position the leg in its position and glue the top around it Chris is a friend of mine and he gets down the rabbit holes on certain projects -- tool benches, tool chests, campaign furniture, and now Welsh stick chairs He's a talented guy that blossomed in his years at PopWood Edited November 29, 20205 yr by kmealy

I think what he meant is that he built it and has been using it as a bench for 5 years, not that it took 5 years to build it. He did a survey of the half-dozen or so benches in his storefront shop and talked about what he liked and disliked about each variation.
