November 9, 20205 yr Popular Post I suppose this is the right sub-forum. A friend of mine called to tell me he had a bandsaw that had to go and asked if I could use it. One of those "I got it from my dad years ago and it never has worked" sort of thing that usually means "I've never used it and the wife wants it gone". Well, after the liberal use of some electrical cleaner on the contacts, the thing fires up and runs. Now to see if it is worth restoring. I may need some help trying to find parts. I know the blade guard at the back is broken and I can't seem to find one online. Serial number (82L03109) tells me it was made in September of 1982, so if anyone knows of a parts source, i would greatly appreciate it.

It's in excellent shape aside from some cosmetic issues. The tires are gonna need changing, but they aren't too bad. Nothing is seized or rusted up. A wire brush and some elbow grease has done wonders. A new blade and a couple of Alex Snodgrass videos has me making some decent cuts. I have learned that I have a lot more to learn. November 9, 20205 yr Popular Post I've got the Delta version if this. Delta took over and rebranded the Rockwell tools (or maybe they were Rockwell Delta for a while, before my time). Unfortunately, Delta got taken over by Stanley Black & Decker, then spun off (or discontinued or something). But I'm thinking if you can find Delta parts (e.g., ereplacementparts.com), they would fit.

Now owned by Chang Type Industrial Co. Ltd. Taiwan.
November 9, 20205 yr Popular Post I didn't see a blade brush in there so you might get one if there is a place you can attach it so it can keep the wheel side of the blade clean. And they do help for things will build up and make the blade go bump bump...
November 9, 20205 yr Let me find my pictures of the blade brushes I made fir my JET. Have to get them off my laptop at home.

November 10, 20205 yr Popular Post Does the arrow on the wheel keep you from putting the blade on backwards?

November 10, 20205 yr Popular Post I have a newer version but I bet the parts are pretty much the same. Mine is like the one shown in this picture and the adjustment knob is above the upper guard. You could build an extension for yours to make life easier. It is a very nice saw.
November 10, 20205 yr Popular Post I got a 14" Jet bandsaw from a guy on Craigs list. He said he tried everything to get it to cut properly. The first thing I did was take the blade off and clean/inspect. All looked good. Then I went to the book and set every adjustment to specs. NOT ONE ADJ was correct and some were even loose. I've never had a problem with it and it saws great. If you can get the manual, follow it for proper adj of all settings, gaps and alignments. I'll bet you will find you have a great saw.
