Good Monday morning!

Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks!

Community news

We are going through some major changes internally here at The Patriot Woodworker with our core software and upgrading, right now things may seem just a bit wonky with some colors, layouts, and menus misbehaving, I am sorry for that, please bear with me as I work these issues out.

Also, I am behind on many things around here, the MWTCA What's It is one of them, I will have a recipient and new "What's It" very soon, again I apologize for the lateness of those items.

The Patriot Woodworkers with Operation Ward 57 Adopt a Wounded Warrior Family for the Holidays - 2020

We are live, locked n loaded, and ready to roll troops! All hands on deck and up, up and away! It's that time of year again, and we are all now members of the Hine's Family! They have adopted us to be their family this year, and we are honored and excited to be a part of their Christmas.

To see how you can help us help them, please go to the following project link posted in the Veterans Forum!

Welcome new members

To view our newest members and welcome them to our digs, please see our Members Page, you can "Sort" by join date and click on their names and be taken to their profile page where you can leave a message of welcome. Thank you for making our newest folks feel welcome.

Have a safe week

Have a safe week folks, and remember what Ralph Jones always says, "Keep your hands no closer than six inches from any cutting blade!" Thank you all and be well!

Today is the day that I finally get to start unpacking and organizing the shop. Most everything we needed done in the house that can be done by us has been done. Replacing the carpeting with laminate will commence on 11/21. The new stuff is stored in the shop. Not a problem…I’ll still be organizing the shop well past the flooring install.
The shop needs lighting, lots more electrical runs, and insulation. But first, I gotta be able to find my tools.:BangingHead:

When ole' Sol makes his appearance, I'll get some pics of the mess I'll be sorting through for the next several days. We were very careful and efficient in packing and loading the shop for the move. Not so careful and efficient in unloading!

I'm actually out in my office which is in the shop today and getting things cleaned up and trying to get ready to do a little woodwork since my finger accident. I can now type with both hands again and don't have to use on finger to hunt and peck. My touch typing is not what it used to be, but it is getting better. Fingers continue to heal. My left ring finger took the worst part of the accident and it still pretty sensitive and I tend to guard it more.

I did a little work out here a few weeks ago on the CNC making some 1911 G10 grips. I haven't been on the wood machines yet but about to get it going.

Looking forward to getting back to whatever in the world anymore is normal in woodworking.

Glad to hear it, John! It'll take awhile but, eventually you'll be back to 100%. DAMHIKT...BTDT.

:(...Nope, I'd have had to be carrying it around for the past 5 or so years.

My lathe is sort of in kit form, I've been gathering up the parts so I can put it together.

:ChinScratch:...Now let's see..

Basic lathe...check

Line-Shafts, & Hangers...check

Bunch of pullies...check

Lathe stand...needs some work...check

Motor...check

Drum Switch for FWD/REV...check

Box with some tooling... faceplates, tool rests, centers, etc...check.

Banjo...still looking for clamp....

Had to drive all the way to Mississippi to get it, but a free bandsaw is worth the trip.  Now, to evaluate and possibly restore this thing!!  BTW, a quick cleaning of the contacts with some electrical cleaner got it working!!

The old "I got it from my dad years ago and it never has worked" kinda thing.  Usually means "I've never used it and the wife wants it gone."

Returned from the river last night to discover relatives have infested the place while I was gone. Wife says I’m supposed to entertain them. Oh well. I put an extra chair in the shop this morning 😈

Ahh unannounced company, and relatives at that. What fun.

Keep in mind both my wife and I are not social people. She would have had a meltdown, and someone would have seen that gleam in my eye of utter disgust followed by the comment, when you leaving?

Had a great week of sales and meeting people at the Museum last week. Going to the range to zero in the new scope today. Then maybe get the shop settled back in to "normal"

John good to hear you doing better

A few pics of the mess. After working at it for 6 hours, not much has changed. 820866219_20201109_1022121.jpg.050b5a06d936659b53ee2f632d376fd5.jpg642359956_20201109_1023031.jpg.3eae5f2e6f24bf5a49205573f684f859.jpg2026969772_20201109_1022261.jpg.c53e143b620d2b6a323ea9543d885c78.jpg2028896740_20201109_1022491.jpg.d54661f31a4558e97649a7ef7ca17034.jpg1209077864_20201109_1022371.jpg.1ec878f2df6d5e2db761f193690188a5.jpg

I see some progress , there is really some concrete showing. It would take me months to unpack if I had to move. Think I might give half of it away.

Looks pretty organized to me, or is it my eyes.

As my late FIL would say, "here's your hat, what's your hurry?"

Looks like a space with LOTS of potential!
