July 29, 20205 yr Not really sure why but I’m finding that moist or wet woods / blanks are just so much easier to turn then if it’s as dry as a bone. Either way with this one I’ll at least get to try out my new bowl gouge. Short hand sand paper supply is out so I’ll have to pick some up tomorrow. I tried slicing off the corners on my bandsaw on this one but the bandsaw I have is just not powerful enough for that even going slow. Either way here’s what’s been done so far.
July 29, 20205 yr Author CookWoods has some decent mill cuts of it. I've gotten some really nice pieces from them. They have become my primary supplier of blanks.
July 30, 20205 yr Author Yea this bowl blank I actually had to stop working on saw some issues with it I didn't like and started on a new one, its actually turning out a lot nicer. I also tried using the disc sander on the outside. SO SO SO SO SO MUCH EASIER than hand sanding. @Jim from Easy Wood Tools I plan on putting in an order tomorrow with you guys for that mid sized Easy Hollower with the Negative Rake option. I'm hoping that particular tool will give me a bit more reach than the tools I am currently using for hollowing. I've seriously got to invest in a detail sander LOL. That will make life so much easier than spending hours hand sanding.
July 30, 20205 yr The Mid-Size Easy Hollower if one of most popular tools, your going to love it. Be nice to Mollie... she'll help you out.
July 30, 20205 yr Author LOL I'm always nice to folks, between you guys and cook woods I've had great customer service, and that's something I HIGHLY respect @Jim from Easy Wood Tools and good customer service always gets a repeat customer from myself.
July 30, 20205 yr Author This one wound up being a bit wobbly in the end gotta figure out how to fix that from continuing to be a problem. How ever I'm just getting into putting in the final touches on this one, the bowl is sanded to 400 grit and using the Wood Bowl Finish on it. Its coming out quite nicely.
July 31, 20205 yr Looking very good on this now. Just keep working out those problems. Oh by the way there are always problems.
