In Need of some Lathe Advice on a Product

Its the 4.5 Amp that would be okay for the time being how ever the specs on it seem alright with me and I've already started working on my bench.

Adjust the variable speed anywhere from 450 RPM to 3500 RPM

Attack work pieces up to 12 in. W and 18 in. L

Soft startups prevent damage to both your work piece and the 4.5 Amp motor

Includes a digital speed display, an 8 in. tool rest, a face plate, a live center and a spur center

Increase the capacity to 12 in. x 41 in. with the WEN 3424EX table extension (sold separately)

Backed by a 2-year warranty

Any idea what size the motor is all I could find was 4.5 amp? If it is less than 3/4 you will not be happy.

What I'm seeing on the Speifications page it is a 3/4 horse power motor.

I have a Delta 46-460 lathe and have used it for 99.5% of what I do for the last 6 or more years.  I have two lathes bigger than this one that I use when needed but could get by without them If I had an extension for this one.  The Delta is strong, quiet and smooth.  A joy to use.

Price is right and free shipping.

I have the Delta also . Don't use it much as was intended for demo lathe and now the club does most demos at the club site where lathes are stored. Think they must have reduced it. Was over 800 last time i looked. Like Lew It is  a good lathe 1 hp/, 1x8 spindle, reverses and easy to change speed ranges with unique belt lever. I like it much better than the wen .

Well the budget allowed me to only be able to get the Wen if I had a bit more I probably would have out right bought the Delta.  How ever the Wen should do alright for what I want to do until I start turning a bat or two and I'll have to buy the extension LOL.  Should be here wensday so I should be able to start turning again on wensday at some point.

I ordered this exact lathe from Lowes in February.  At the time it was $532, free ship to store, less the 10% military discount.  Total came to $517 w/ tax.

Are you happy with it?

I'm ashamed to say, I haven't even used it yet!  Set it up, tested it, got distracted.  Planning to get into it this summer.
