May 15, 20206 yr Popular Post Well folks, we've made it to another Friday. We hope everyone is doing well through these "CRAZY" times. Myself....still trying to work around the weather. So...What have all of you got planned for the weekend? Hopefully your weather is giving you a break, it's raining here now ...again.
May 15, 20206 yr Popular Post Got my back door steps all assembled and painted. So installed last night. Next up is the door frame and doors.
May 15, 20206 yr Popular Post Lookin' good, Gunny. Got more planing to do. By Monday, panels should be in the clamps. Tuesday, it'll be time for sanding and pattern cutting.
May 15, 20206 yr Popular Post I got my wife's teak rocking chairs painted, wound up spraying them in the barn so I didn't need to hang drapes or anything. Frees the weekend up for yard work...at least for tomorrow. Today I'm touching up parts of tose chairs, with the poor lighting in the barn I found I missed a few spots; even with 2 coats.
May 15, 20206 yr Popular Post Had a visit with my brother on the back patio this morning. Nice enough outside to be able to do that and social distance too. Supposed to rain so some shop time will be in the equation. Been playing with the metal lathes and accessories.
May 15, 20206 yr Had a errand to run, today...renew the Mil. ID cards...IN Columbus,OH. Hmmmm, funny, I don't feel a year older...... Monday, I go see the Bone Doc about this beat-up body.... Beyond that?

May 16, 20206 yr Popular Post Shout out to @Artie Went to plug big fan in and check for operation this evening and used the outlet in carport. As I went to plug the fan in I hear a crunching sound then the snap crackle pop of shorted wires behind the outlet. This is what I found. Seems the guys that did the siding years ago did a terrible job of making this work. So I removed that outlet box and installed a 2 1/2 deep metal one. Sealed it back up and tested for operation. Used my handy outlet tool. Lets me get a good grip on the outlet while putting in the screws. Turned the breaker back on and both lights came on, it is good. And finally I went to my stock and had a new cover ready to install. Good as new in 30 minutes, had everything in stock. Went and checked the only other outside outlet and found same mess. Changed that one out as well AND had yet another cover in stock.
May 16, 20206 yr Popular Post Ah weekend finally. This week The guy I hired to replace a pictet fence with 6 foot privacy finally got it done. Had 3 Cedars of the 5 in back yard removed. That brought in some sunshine. Got three Beads of Courage bowls ready for finish today and hope to have 3 more done tomorrow. Turning club had a Zoom meeting with Mike Mahoney last night which turned out well. Tomorrow we have a followup with our club and show n tell. After that I will sit in on a meeting of a club in New Mexico. It has been a packed week for me. Edited May 16, 20206 yr by Gerald

Yesterday we mourned the loss of another WWII vet. Our neighbor moved in about 2 years ago and passed away earlier this week. He lied about his age, and joined the Marines to serve in WWII. He stayed in the Marines and also served in Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the Marines he worked for the Bibb County, Georgia, Sheriffs Office for 30 years. He worked for 50 straight years! I didn't get to talk with him all that much, he and his wife spent a lot of time coming and going. Last summer he finished up working on his Chevy truck and did a couple car shows. This is a pic of Mitch and his son at the first show they did.
May 16, 20206 yr RIP brother. One day it will be my turn to ascend and come to heavens gates. On that day my brothers will greet me as I take my final post.
May 16, 20206 yr Author Working on Jeep, wife came home yesterday saying something smells hot. So.. I check and drivers side front wheel is hot enough to fry an egg on. So.. I figure maybe a sticking caliper. Could I be that lucky? Turns out to be hub bearing and axle U-Joint. Of course...Nobody has them in stock.

Above the bar that has sign saying bent is a straight bar. The toe rod end should be that shape. Customer says he was NOT in any wreck. Yeah okay.
May 16, 20206 yr Author @Gunny ...Looks like somebody tried pulling something after rapping the tow chain around the tie rod, or was pulled out of somewhere.

Hard to see in picture but it is bent toward the front end chunk. I am guessing someone drove over an obstacle and missed. New addition to story. His kid drove it last month and parked afterwards. So not driven since then. Like a soap opera.

I didn't hit anything.
