Ideas for a Finishing room

Featured Replies

Now that I have a 10x12 building I can use for finishing can I get some ideas of what has worked well for those who have a dedicated room for such a purpose?

What I have thus far is:

Ventilation, 2700 cfm attic fan in the window. I think I am good, also have plenty of windows.

Access if needed for 220 @40 amp electrical.  Have 110 @20 amp for outlets and can easily access to suite my needs

Access to water, drain I can make work but have nothing currently hooked up.  I have a crawlspace I can use to add as needed.  Mostly this is for quick clean up not washing brushes and rollers out.  Have a place to handle that already.

So I will be spraying in this space, compressor requirements for a small spray gun run in at 6CFM @40 psi.  Thinking a 25 gallon compressor should handle this well.  Plumbing in from the shop compressor while possible is more than 70 feet away.  Not really wanting to go that way.

Any input is welcome.

Light, light, light.   Preferably 5000K and some at a low angle behind where you are applying the finish.

And heat / cooling / dehumidifying.

Something that you can easily hang projects from for those smaller projects.  A good sized work table and lazy susan for larger projects.  How wide is the door?  As long as we are spending your money, make that table adjustable height:D

Door is 36 inches wide and 7 ft tall. Was custom built to allow a hottub to pass through with room to spare.:D

The hanging rod I will have to look into tonight. Got spoiled in main shop I have one already.

Lazy Susan, hmmm.  @lew has shown one on his bench. Might borrow his method.

Thanks @Cal:TwoThumbsUp:

Replaced any rear wheel hubs lately?  Could make one heavy duty LS with one...

Have two under my toolbox here at work. Have to take one home tonight. :TwoThumbsUp:Never have to worry about bearing failing.

Current "table" is two cheap sawhorses and an old hollow core door.  :JawDrop:

I have a lazy susan that I use.  It's very handy for large objects or a bunch of small ones.
