Looks like the donation meter has stalled out. Come on guys help John out to keep this forum running. He works hard to keep us all happy, the least we can do is see he makes his goal of at least 1 k .

Herb

Since many of us are retired, would it work for John for each of us who can kick in from $10 to $20 per month?  I don't know how many members per month could do that and how long it would take to accumulate sufficient funds that John would ask us to turn it off.  Anyway, the months that I can, that's my plan.

How often do we need the $ 1000?

This is my plan, added it to budget starting this month.  Once it is on my bills to pay list, it gets paid.  If not, well.....  :BangingHead:

That time again, just a friendly nudge to the guys, who have been thinking about how good John has made this forum so good for us, thanks to all you regulars for getting it this far, we are close to meeting the goal.

Herb

Made mine for this month.  Few days early even... :D

I see it's sitting at "Raised $900.00 of $1,000.00 target".

Thanks to all who have given (or even would like to, if able).

It's obviously not a requirement, but i would like to pass on my thanks to those who make this all possible.  :D

Wow, you guys are doing great, almost there.

I just looked and my adblockers are only blocking 1 ad on this page !! When I go to other forums, they are always up around 35 ads . This is because John is doing this out of his pocket, not catering to the advertisement world. You don't find that anywhere else.

Thanks all you guys at the helm of this site.

Just a quick note here before I head off to work, thank you all very much for your incredible generosity. Some of you asked a couple questions here, when I get in tonight I'll address those concerns.

I just visited our donate page and it looks like folks really like it here, and that makes my heart swell. :)

Thank you for the great questions. You all can donate as often and as much as you want. And you all can never donate, that would be fine too. Of course we love it when we can have a cushion of funding so we don't fear running out.

One thing I do not want is for anybody to ever feel obligated to give, you all are here contributing content, images, topics and posts, and that is plenty of giving within itself.

We typically try to raise the additional thousand each year, if you all remember we usually have a mid summer raffle fundraiser that benefits our own community. Our sponsors chip in some great items, and you all purchase tickets for the raffle, and in the past we have averaged around a thousand.

This year, my health took a turn for the summer, and I had not the energy nor the patience or mind to organize our annual mid summer fundraiser. I am so glad you all found the donation page and have contributed.

That donation page has been there for years, with a goal of a thousand dollars, and the last month or so is the first time anyone has ever used it!

Hey Herb, there shouldn't be a single ad in our community, can yo tell me what that danged ad was?

Just a small correction, sometimes I have to dip into my own pocket to pay for this community, it does happen, and has happened, but it's not often. Now if you count the countless hours of maintaining this community and trouble shooting and dealing with the many emails and inquiries each week from our faithful followers, than ya, I guess you could say it's out of my own pocket, since we are all volunteers here, no body is paid a penny. But I started this community knowing that we'd be at times struggling, and other times pretty flush, and yes even knowing I'd chip in a few now and then. But the reality of it is, I love this place, and the reward to me is incredible, in more ways than any of you will ever know.

We do have three sponsors who pick up the lions share of the costs here, and they have been with us since the beginning. But their sponsorship does not cover us 100 percent, thus the need for our annual raffle fundraisers.

And you are right Herb, I hate those pesky ads, the popups, the google this, the google that, the click n bait ads, we don't have any of that, all we have is three harmless graphics from our sponsors, you click on them, and you get taken to their website, we do not earn a commission from that, it's a straight link without any code embedded to track your movements to their sites, and us earning money if you buy something, no, it doesn't work that way here. There is nothing hidden.

Thank you for leading the cheer here Herb!

Thank you so much Dan, we love it here too. I could not do this without the help of our admins Ron and John and all our Forum Hosts, this community belongs to you guys, and I am very happy you all like something we created, it's a great feeling. It's like you all coming over to my home for a barbecue, and you tell me how excellent the meat and drink was, and it was my own recipe, my ego soars, and I feel like I really created something wonderful. Thanks again all, and Dan.

Soon, perhaps this weekend I'll do a break down of where this wonderful additional funding will be directed too, so you all can see where your funding is going, and how it benefits this community.

John,

I am unable to determine which ad it is,it just shows up on the ad block icon as a "1"

The only thing Ghostery shows blocked is your pageview stats code

-- Matomo --> <script type="text/javascript"> var _paq = window._paq || []; /* tracker methods like "setCustomDimension" should be called before "trackPageView" */ _paq.push(['trackPageView']); _paq.push(['enableLinkTracking']); (function() { var u="//www.analytics.thepatriotwoodworker.org/"; _paq.push(['setTrackerUrl', u+'matomo.php']); _paq.push(['setSiteId', '2']); var d=document, g=d.createElement('script'), s=d.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; g.type='text/javascript'; g.async=true; g.defer=true; g.src=u+'matomo.js'; s.parentNode.insertBefore(g,s); })(); </script> <!-- End Matomo Code -->

Thanks @p_toad. That is a good thing, only one then.

Matomo is our analytical software we use. I rarely visit our analytics software, since I am not really interested in all that "stuff". But it tells us how many visits our site has had and from what parts of the world, and all the in-between metrics.

We used to us Google Analytics, but I got rid of it a few months ago and started using Matomo, it's less intrusive for our guests, and it's not "Google" which I really like. Matomo is open source software that we have on our own server. So Google is not tracking nor counting hits as it used to. I even removed the Google tracking id in our software, I just don't like being attached to Google for our community.

Here is our new analytical software we use, and I am very happy with it.
