April 1, 20197 yr And April Fool's day to you too John! What an interesting picture that last one is. All of the logs in the background. And what sort of gizmo is on his saw?
April 1, 20197 yr Popular Post At my age, it doesn’t take much to make a fool of me. Yesterday afternoon, My wife’s niece came by to pick up her new bed. It’s always gratifying when you create something from a picture and that creation pleases the new owner. That being said my wife’s niece was beyond pleased with her new bed. Pic below. This week is looking pretty busy. I’m finishing up some flag cases and I have to build a cabinet for the local Elks lodge.
April 1, 20197 yr Popular Post @John Morris Will the chat be going video? Well (Deep Subject), we managed to get the well at Bruce's house going, but it is going to require more work. The well is going to have to be treated for mineral buildup. We changed the pressure switch out to a 20/40 from a 40/60 and the recovery time is rather excessive (1/2 hr.). I'll be going to see about getting another monitor for my PC, hopefully the one I was looking at is still on sale.
April 1, 20197 yr Popular Post I've been working with my plating endeavor. Tried some copper plating that turned out okay but not great. I think the voltage is too high. I need to get down to 3 volts and try it again. At 9 volts the copper builds too quickly. The nickel plating is great. Works good on steel. I used it to replate a few tool parts.
April 1, 20197 yr Popular Post It is Monday....shop will be closed, I think...have another road trip to do...may see about some hardware ( handles and feet) in Bright Brass...as the #2 box seems to need...something "Lumber" is 5/16" thick Ash....tried to show off the grain...
April 1, 20197 yr Popular Post Got the Dust Deputy in on the weekend and will give it a good test today. Need to cut some more pecan blanks but too many conflicts and end of the week will be rainy. Hope to get a couple of these blanks roughed out today.
April 1, 20197 yr Popular Post Let’s see, made an extension table for me Missus’s sewing machine, but the top shifted during glue/clamp up, we’ll see how bad tonight when I get home from work. Replaced an over the range fan hood for some friends. The Missus and meself went for a road trip, it was too nice to stay inside. Finished the trip with supper at a Mexican restaurant, it was very good.
April 1, 20197 yr Popular Post Went and pulled the trigger. Now to unpack, setup, and adjust the new monitor. I went with a bigger 24.5" that's 1.5" wider than the hutch opening. Back to the I don't draw plans stage.
April 1, 20197 yr Popular Post Weekend: Catching up with the grand-kids after their week away. Saturday, replaced a cold water run shut-off valve, toilet supply line and repaired another shut-off valve leak for a friend. You know how plumbing goes...from bad to worse...mix of galvanized, copper, soft copper and CPVC. Second trip to HD was in blizzard like conditions...2+" of snow in 3 hours. Sunday, a rare day after church. Just wife & I went out for lunch, several errands with a final stop at our favorite ice-cream place (same name/location all of my life). Daughter & grand-kids had a family outing with the church youth group. Week ahead: Girl's H.S. tennis season kicks off this week. Two matches; one home/one away. I'm a fair weather tennis fan even when my grand-daughter is playing so my attendance TBD by the weather. May see some garage time later in the week once we get past the next couple of days. Daughter's van needs some TLC; maybe a TPS solenoid??? Spring may actually be near...buds on the sugar maples; grass has a greenish tint to it. A few daffodils have ventured above the mulch and may bloom by the weekend; took a hit the past 3 days.
April 2, 20197 yr Popular Post My apprentice has been helping with 4 drawers we are making for a refurb of the paint supplies cabinet. Being curious he went and did some research and found it is best if not only used brushes but also new brushes should be stored like we buy them at the store. On hooks. Okay I tell him but where exactly in this wall area do you see that kind of extra space? No problem he says. Open up the wall and make a hideaway cabinet. Put the new brushes behind the cabinet door and the used ones on the front just like now. Also he tells me this will give me more space in two drawers for other finishing stuff. Yeah he has spent some time on it. Excellent! Someone else thought this all through and all I have to do is execute the plan. Shouldn't be hard. Tonight's work so far. We cut the pegboard hole. Framed it out and made a mock up of the drawer hinge so the correct depth cane be set for the hinge so the door remains flush when closed but doesn't rub the edge when opening. Let him seal the frame up as the outside wall is the back of the new cabinet. Caulk as he discovered should not be rubbed on pants leg. Just a tip!!

April 2, 20197 yr Waiting for neighbor to call, it's his turn again for water problems. First the well at his house, now the drains at the Antique Mall. One place can't get enough water, the other can't get rid of it.
April 3, 20197 yr Popular Post Had to put new guts in the toilet over the weekend. The other one wouldn't shut off for some reason. It is one of those toilets they advertised along time ago that would flush a bunch of golf balls. Since the nicer weather has at least started. I've been getting out in the shop to work on the TV cabinet with electric fireplace. I set up the router table and got some trim made. Getting the doors glued together now.

Maybe you should have whacked it a couple of times with a 9 iron...of course you would be 2 over par for that.
