October 24, 20187 yr Popular Post Spending a week at Marc Adams Academy of Woodworking just south of Indianapolis. A most amazing place!! I am taking a class with Glenn Lucas again this year, what a great technician and what a great teacher. Almost posted this in the general wood working area but since I'm taking a turning class I decided to post it here. Just thought I'd share a few pictures of the facility. It's important to note these pictures don't begin to show just how extensive this complex is. One of the assistants told me there are about 40,000 square feet under roof. There are about 400 people who have completed the masters program here, it's an extensive training and requires serious dedication to get that done. This is a wall that has several inspirational or clever snippets on it. This one is my favorite. 2018 instructors. the lathe room, 16(I think) oneway 1624 lathes. One of the machining rooms, there are several One of the assembly rooms, and again, there are several. This class is working on a Nakashima style side table. A display case of some completed projects Kind of like wood worker Nirvana Steve Edited October 24, 20187 yr by Steve Krumanaker

October 24, 20187 yr They're (MASW) fortunate to have such a talented, creative and dedicated craftsman such as yourself in attendance & willing to further the craft. Thanks for the tour and enjoy your week. Looking forward to hearing and seeing more about your experiences.
October 25, 20187 yr That must be one amazing experience, Steve. I didn’t know you had that trip planned.
October 25, 20187 yr Congratulations @Steve Krumanaker on another week at Marc Adams school. I've been there several times on business (never a class unfortunately) and it is truly an amazing place. Marc is an extremely gifted woodworker, teacher and is just a good and thoughtful man. I have attended one of his lectures and the amount of good information he delivers is incredible, accurately described as trying to drink from a fire hose! Marc Adams school is a very special place.
October 25, 20187 yr Author Popular Post Thanks for all the comments. It has been an incredible week, made so by Glenn Lucas, our instructor. If you're a wood turner and aspire to be a better wood turner spend time with him any chance you get. I don't care if it's only for an hour, or if it's for a day, a week, or even longer. This man knows more about wood, wood turning, form, and technique than you can imagine. Add to that, he is dedicated to the craft and dedicated to teaching and sharing what he has learned in over 25 years of being a production turner. Add to that, he is excellent at sharing it as he is a natural teacher, he is personable, quick to answer questions or help and holds nothing back. Going to a place like Marc Adams for a week is not cheap, for a retired person it is large commitment. I remarked to the guy next to me during a demo today, that's about 25 times this week I've gotten my monies worth. Would start the week again tomorrow, if the wife said it was ok that is. Steve
