October 9, 20187 yr Popular Post Last week I was going WOT taking down the old swimming pool deck. I can say that it comes down a lot quicker than it went up! Saturday I took the day off and went to a car show at the local VFW. I was a bit disappointed with the turnout, but I snagged a Top 20 award. Then watched a couple college football games. Go Dawgs!!! Sunday I helped my niece's husband work on a wood guitar case. He had pictures and wanted it to look like an old pine box. This project started about a month ago with a visit to my "pallet supplier". I think it will look rustic when completed! This week; I finished taking down the deck and framework yesterday. All that remains are the 4x4 posts. Waiting for some rain to soften the ground up so that I might be able to wiggle them free. Time to get a couple estimates for tractor work now that we can see the ground again. I may tag along with SWMBO tomorrow as she works up above Atlanta the rest of the week. Gives me a chance to visit our daughter and maybe check out a Woodcraft and just maybe Peachtree and Highland Hardware also. And in between I have a couple smaller projects, restoring an old tool box and a new mirror design.
October 9, 20187 yr @Cal, sounds like a fun weekend and a really pleasurable week ahead. I'd love to spend a few days in Atlanta with you about now.
October 9, 20187 yr @ Gene Howe When they used to incorporate the slide out bread boards in kitchen base cabinets they had that type of ends. The big one my mom kneaded bread on was like that too. Herb

Congrats...you've got a nice one for sure! 7 hours ago, Cal said: Waiting for some rain to soften the ground up so that I might be able to wiggle them free. Won't be long...hope it doesn't get to severe there...Hurricane warnings now in affect as far north as Albany, GA. Getting pretty close. You & @Buckaroo stay safe and keep your heads low.

October 9, 20187 yr Come to think of it, I remember those pull outs in my grandmother's kitchen. Thanks, guys.
October 9, 20187 yr Had a pull out cutting board at the last house. I really missed it but got used to one I made and hung for convenience.
October 9, 20187 yr Author We had a breadboard pull out too, I miss it, lost it when we had our old cabs ripped out after a flood.

You & @Buckaroo stay safe and keep your heads low. Thanks Dave. It does look, right now, that we will be directly in the path of tropical storm force winds in the range of 60-75mph. I will be taking care of last minute preparation this morning and then head out with the Mrs. for Atlanta (actually Woodstock) and hope for the best. If there is a blessing to the last months drought it is that the ground is like concrete; that will help with "not so many" trees being uprooted. Unfortunately, pecans are big trees, shallow rooted, loaded with foliage and nuts, and mostly irrigated - they will not fare so well. I expect this will be a big disaster for our row crop and pecan farmers along the swath of this storm... I hope that @Buckaroo is on some high ground...
