Latest Wiki Entries Straight from a wonderful book about "American Woods", by Shelley E. Schoonover, published in 1951, we are moving her out of print, out of copyright contents over to our wiki. There will be two categories for the trees of North America, The Softwoods, and The Hardwoods. See the latest entries at the links below. Ponderosa Pine Red Pine Shortleaf Pine Sugar Pine Virginia Pine Western White Pine Also, I'd like to congratulate @kmealy for jumping in and editing our Woodworking Glossary wiki page, Keith added several of his own entries, and made corrections to entries that were already there, Keith is now an official "Wikier"! Great job Keith! I think he'll tell ya it was pretty painless, actually quite easy right Keith? August 6, 20187 yr So many things are still out of place as a result of the water system fiasco. Lots of WORK to be done to facilitate the normal fun times.
August 6, 20187 yr Friday was a full day. Took my oldest grandson & stepdad to Purdue Airport. The Collins Foundation returned with the P-51, B-17, B-24 & B-25. Even though they left a little after NOON, it was a great day. The P-51 was in the air more than on the ground. Both the 17 & 25 had one flight while we were there, then we were able to see them all leave for their next venue. One other WWII vet was there. He was 97 and pretty spry. He had been a B-24 top turrent gunner. Also enjoyed a great talk with a Korean Navy veteran. He had been a mechanic and flight deck chief. He knew LOTS about the Corsairs. Saturday, wrapped up the mowing; kids spent the night with their dad. Yesterday set up the camp-site/tent and made hobo-meals for supper followed by roasted marshmallows. Kids & their mom slept in the tent. Grandma & me inside; the new pup in her cage (safe place). She prefers not to be out after dark. She has adapted extremely well in one week...worries over the kids and has singled out the youngest since he's the smallest...he gets "herded" quite often. Week ahead...kids start the new school year Tuesday. LOTS of projects and things to do in the queue. TBD if any get accomplished.
August 6, 20187 yr more shooting benches on the horizon! just got a request to build 6 more shooting benches for the range. different design than last time, club president found some online source for a set of plans. downloaded those for later use. priced things out roughly, should run about $100/bench. they'll be pretty heavy, so i'll do some assembly in my shop, attach the legs once i get to the range. and no one will thank me later. didn't thank me the first time.
