Popular Post John Moody Posted July 20, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted July 20, 2018 It seems here that corn hole games have become the hot item. We have been quite busy gluing up tops for the games. Today we were busy in the shop cutting and getting five tops glued and one more ready but ran out of clamps. You know you can never have too many clamps. We made a set for an Auburn fan. They furnished the stick-on decal and we applied it and then sprayed on the clear finish. I'm an Alabama fan, but I won't turn down an order from an Auburn fan. I posted a picture of the Singer Sewing Table last week, but it got sprayed over the weekend with General Finishes Enduro Var and delivered to the customer. I'm also trying to finish up a Cedar Chest with Walnut accents. Got the skirt pieces all cut and mitered just need to get them on now. Lots to do this weekend. And today I had a meeting with a wonderful 92 year old lady that wanted a set of finials for her new gate and post. She had this very nice picture showing the gate and finials. She has already had the gate built and need the finials turned. So I went by and met with her and will be getting on turning the finials in the next couple of weeks to fit the post. My two sons and I have been quite busy in the shop lately and it has been loads of fun. So what's on your agenda this July weekend? Love to hear about and see all of your projects. Share with us whats on your agenda this weekend. lew, HARO50, steven newman and 5 others 8 Quote
Popular Post Cal Posted July 20, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted July 20, 2018 (edited) Some great things you have going on there John. I really enjoy seeing the quality and different projects that you do. I have a particularly tough weekend facing me. The wife has to work this weekend - in Savannah. So, after I get the shop and workspace cleaned up I plan to load up and head for Statesboro where I will meet up with her. Plans call for an evening with friends, shrimp & grits at a local micro-brewery and delivering a mirror I made last week. The mirror was a yard sale find I think and I debated throwing the frame away until I read @kmealy's post regarding clean up and waxing. Saturday I will follow the Mrs. to Savannah. After she gets her mobile training center set up we get the night off to check out one (or more) of our favorite spots in town. While she works on Sunday I will check out many of the information booths at the convention she is at and then likely walk a few miles around the historic district looking at architecture and gardens for ideas I might bring home with me. I have done that a lot of times, and I always find something that I never seen or noticed before. Hey, it's tough - but somebody has to do it! Popular Post Gene Howe Posted July 20, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted July 20, 2018 John's Friday posts are always interestingly varied and, inspiring, to boot. Cal,That's a great restore job on that mirror frame. Two questions...how did you get that picture without any reflections in the mirror? And, whatcha got going on with the wall behind the chair? I certainly envy your anticipated leisurely stroll through the beautiful and, historic neighborhoods of Savannah. In '97, we spent a few days camped on Tybee and took a memorable carriage ride through the area. Gorgeous architecture and a fascinating history. Cal, John Moody, Grandpadave52 and 2 others 5 Quote
Ron Dudelston Posted July 20, 2018 Report Posted July 20, 2018 John, you’re making me look like a slacker. Cal, I love Savannah and all the old south culture. I sound out a few weeks ago that 4 years on the flight line in the Air Force has done damage to my high frequency hearing. Yesterday, I was fitted for my first ever set of hearing aids and it’s an adjustment. The aids are high end and the audiologist was very good (pretty too). I have an app on my phone to custom adjust the aids...go figure. I’m prepping for a show next weekend so all work is put on hold for the weekend. John Moody, Grandpadave52 and lew 3 Quote

Grandpadave52 Posted July 21, 2018 Report Posted July 21, 2018 Yeah I know it's Saturday but I spent ~6 hours yesterday following a "weed-eater" around the property; the remainder of the time was re-wrapping line spools. All outside work today is postponed due to the Indiana weather pattern...~10-15 min each of blue sky, clouds mixed with blue sky, clouds, rain...repeat the cycle...have spent some time in the garage and headed back in a bit for R & (recovery & reorganize); Tomorrow church, couple of errands, lunch then see what the weather allows from there. Starkey Halos that bluetooth to/from my phone/app. I've had these a year and still getting used to them. Conversation in a noisy environment is my biggest problem. The audiologist had a set of special ear molds made to reduce feedback and that helps. Cal 1 Quote
