Good Monday Morning!

Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks!

Patriot Woodworker News

We are working on a new Home Page at https://thepatriotwoodworker.com/main/

This page will eventually be the main showcase page for our community, although our forums will always exist, at the current url you are accustomed too. The main page will be the first page our visitors and guests view upon arrival. We will keep you informed of the progress as we advance.

Latest Wiki Seed Entry

We are starting off with basics, and the "Hammer" is about as basic as you get, but the history is anything but!

Our Featured Image below heads up our Hammer category page. These seed pages are incomplete, waiting for editors like you to dig in and add to and edit, and collaborate. We hope to have our wiki open for editing relatively soon.

See us at https://thepatriotwoodwiki.org/Hammer

No shop work for the next several days. I'd say it's because we're on vacation but, we've been on vacation since we retired. We just change locales every so often.

retirees need to stick together...

Yep, us old guys need all the help we can get.

Gene I almost questioned you going to Branson but then again you might like the old guys versions of songs that are sung way out of tune.  Me, I still like the way they were sung when I was also young..

When I am reading Patriot Woodworker I always have the sound on you tube and the old goodies.

It seems like now the young people just starting in the music business has to sing off key, or maybe my hearing has changed along with being deaf???

Late to the party today. This is moratorium week...no organized school sport activities allowed by ISHAA so, shuttle bus 'er truck and driver gets a break.

Finished the mowing/trimming yesterday; starts over tomorrow. Hope to get all fence rows, drive way and other weed infested areas sprayed if the rains will hold off for more than 12 hours.

Big birthday party Wednesday...U.S.A. celebrates 242 years old. I'm planning for some burgers, sausage dogs, and maybe potato, bean, and pea salads to compliment. Pyrotechnics will conclude the day.

Remainder of the week I'll be focusing on work toward completing my PhD's (Projects half Done that is:P)

Last summer my wife saw a planter built into a head board. She found one at the thrift store during the winter and brought it home.

Since it was too cold to get out to the shop to make it, it waited until last week.

Had to keep the cost down ( like Steve Newman ) no check until the 1st part of the month, so I used a couple of cedar fence boards and 1 x 1's for added strength. Good place for it to keep the dogs from walking on the plants!

A friend told me many years ago, retirees don't have "vacations,"  they have "trips."

Had a quick Dr. appt and paying job this morning.  When I got home, I moved forward with my plan to trim what I carry in my work van.  A lot of it I don't regularly use since I "semi-retired" and not doing work for stores or delivery companies any more.   Using the wine display cases I got from Sam's Club closing and sorted stuff out so I can grab a box of related stuff on the way out if I think I'll need it.  And boy was it hot outside today.IMG_0736.JPG.c2fe95077bac3d7e97ab35e53ad31d52.JPG

wrapped up the first 4 (of 5) bookcases today.  now back to floor tiling.  ugh.

one more similar to these planned, little wider than each of these (20" inside, last one will be about 27" inside), and will re-use 2 of the metal and glass ones i already have, so the spacing on the books will be eased a bit, make it easier to put books back and allow some display of small stuff on some shelves.  this plywood was $86/sheet.  bought 5 sheets, have 1 left for the last case.  pretty good guessing/measuring.

@Smallpatch Jesse, Branson would not be our first...or twentieth pick for a reunion. But, we weren't consulted.:P We're not really interested in any of the shows so, we spend our time visiting with family or napping. Branson proper is 40 mi. by road from the reunion site. One trip there is plenty.
