Boys at YMCA Camp Lichtman See more at https://thepatriotwoodwiki.org/Education-Research-Portal Camp 1 was used as Camp Lichtman for many years, hosting groups of African-American boys from the Twelfth Street YMCA in Washington, DC. This use resulted in a codification of local segregation practices with separate entrances for the black camps on the north side of the site and white camps on the south. However, Camp 1 provided new camping facilities laid out according to the latest ideas in recreational planning at a time when few options were available to African-American groups. By the 1960s, Camp 1 was used as co-ed and integrated Camp Goodwill by Family and Child Services of Washington, DC.
June 25, 20187 yr Doing last minute chores prepping for a trip to MO. Seems like we just did this stuff a few weeks ago.
June 25, 20187 yr Finished up the sewing thread storage cabinet. Need to give the shop a quick cleaning. Put away the tools is first on the list.
June 25, 20187 yr Popular Post Trying to get my hearing back. We went to a Doobie Brothers - Steely Dan concert last night. Actually, I do have a hearing test at the VA Wednesday. I’m building a hanging, double sided 30” x 30” map case for a WWII map this week. For those of you who wanted to see the turned epoxy bowl that my daughter turned, here it is. The expos was a big box variety and was a bit yellow for my liking.

Hate it when that happens and certainly know how he must have felt...the old calamine lotion was about the only treatment back then...we went through lots of it at home during the same era. Great featured image & story. 17 minutes ago, Ron Dudelston said: For those of you who wanted to see the turned epoxy bowl that my daughter turned, here it is. Very cool and creative. Perfect exhibit for an Art teacher.
June 25, 20187 yr Popular Post Summer swim ended with banquet Friday evening and the Conference meet exhausted Saturday. Open session volleyball started for one this AM and Summer tennis for the other one so...lots of running well, driving. In process of replacing the front brakes/rotors/hardware on the truck...RS done, LS IP, then bleed...only got ~74k out of this set. Mow, mow, mow, with MORE rain forecast...girls will be surprised when they get home at NOON with their mowing assignments today. Shop time will be much more mechanical than wood related. Hopefully get caught up on reading TPW. Anything else TBD.

June 25, 20187 yr Monday??? Just had a visitor to the Dungeon Shop. His trailer is being worked on at Airstream's Jackson Center, OH factory...they decided to stop by..... Beyond that? Nada. Have blood work to do in a little bit.....
June 26, 20187 yr Popular Post Took son for his bi-weekly blood test and doctor visit yesterday. Good news; cancer cell count is down from 39.1 to 4.9! 4.0 is apparently "normal", whatever that means. Hit one of the local tool stores afterwards, and he picked up a small dust collector. He's really getting the WW bug, so it's ALL good news! John Edited June 26, 20187 yr by HARO50
