I hate em. I cut them off, because after awhile I can't open the danged can because the plastic gets stripped out.

My favorite finish, Watco, has those stupid cap covers. They get cut off first thing. If I neglect to clean the threads on the can and the cap, its welded on. Water pump pliers to the rescue. But, they are useless if that idiotic plastic cap is there.

I also rip them off medicine bottles. 

Safety caps have cost us all a fortune but they do save lives. I take mine off too but no small children and shop is locked if any come by.

Here's a list to which we might add those moronic "safety" caps.

I like the caps that comes from the VA. They can be used either way by just pressing the center in or out... I bet some don't know that and cuss em every time they have to get pills out....

Those Nicholson "thingies" were listed on Amazon back in 2013 and there are zero comments.   If they are made of the same steel and heat treating as their current files (hardened to old solder RC, I'm guessing)...all i have to say is "no thanks...ever"

I use rasps all the time, They are a handy tool. If you ever make Cabrole legs you will see how they save you a ton of work. I have a whole set,Flat, Half Round,Round, Square, and wood files too. I use them a lot.

I never knew rasps could cut like this Gene, it's a completely different experience than the traditional rasps isn't it!

Sure is. They cut any wood like it's butter. Great for fine work.

If you want to get a bit more agressive, check out farrier's rasps. They can remove a ton of wood fast. They're two sided and the fine side leaves a decent, ready for sanding, surface.

I use rasps a fair bit, I just don't see a good reason to put them on a chisel shank.
