Good Monday Morning!

Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks!

On a selfish note, @kmealy just posted a topic about one of my chair making mentors and inspirations. Keith shared a video shop tour of the shop of Kerry Pierce, all you Craftsman fans, take heart, a master chair builder uses Craftsman machinery, if it's good enough for Kerry, it's good enough for anyone.

Community Fundrasier

Soon we'll be launching our Spring/Summer community fundraiser, the proceeds from this fundraiser benefit us, our community here, the funding will help offset the costs associated with running this community, paying for software licenses, third party development fees, and most importantly, we also use the funds to help the occasional request by a veteran disabled woodworker who is having a hard time making ends meet, and may need a hand up to help purchase supplies, or even tooling and machinery.

There are many members here who have been in on such projects, behind the scenes, as we usually keep these projects quiet out of respect for the woodworker in need, but I feel there are enough Patriot Woodworker's out there who have, behind the scenes, been involved, and can vouch for the additional expenses incurred by us, for helping these very special woodworker's.

So stay tuned, keep your eyes peeled, and a fundraiser "raffle" is in your future! We hope you'll participate, and support our community in this annual event.

Image Of the Week

Ron Altier's Time Wall Clock, a masterful work of American Folk Art, I love this, thank you for sharing Ron!

Starting this Wednesday, my shop work is will be non existent for 3 weeks. As will participation on  TPW. We're crossing off one of Phyl's bucket list items with a Cruise to AK. No big loss. All I was doing was sanding, anyway.

Watch out for icebergs!

The rain stopped long enough to bale the lawn.

Got back from a trip to see my wife's mom and her guy friend. Also, she picked up her new rig. As for me, trying to wrap up ODOT this week, a bid this week and startup of another project. Probably no shop time during the week, but will get some this weekend, I hope.

Monday?  Usually reserve for shopping for supplies for the shop....wake me up when Tuesday blow in with the wind...

Worked a while on a bed frame over the weekend....cussing was at "Marine D.I." Day one level.....and just as loud...

Shop is USUALLY closed on Mondays....will see how THAT goes..:huh::rolleyes:

Pretty cool opportunity (no pun intended)...maybe you can touch bases with some of the TPW members in the area...Hope she didn't sign you on for one of the Deadliest Catch episodes:P

As for me...schools out for the summer after Thursday...Rd 1 of Tennis Regional tournament tomorrow night...Like @lew, need to mow & bale the yard plus lots of trimming once the rain/drizzle stops...shop time will be mainly mechanical in nature but maybe some tool reconditioning.

Working on that Warped planter, trying to "save" it from the junk heap. Just doesn't look right to me.

Got the truck detailed, ears lowered, did some last minute shopping for the trip. Had lunch in town. Supposed to be green chilli and cheddar quiche with scones. There was something green in the quiche but it weren’t green chilies. The scones were baked yesterday..... or? Very dry. Wasted $12. Not going back there.

On the bright side, a couple from MS is opening a gumbo place in town. Rumor has it  Mud Bugs (crawfish) will be on the menu.
I think we’re all packed. Staying overnight with son, DIL and new baby, Wednesday. Heading for the plane on Thursday. Alaska, here we come. Well, via Vancouver.

Almost finished with chipping the hemlocks, maybe one more day. Started cutting some of the bigger logs to firewood length.

Safe travels to you both Gene...Enjoy and behold the journey. We'll hold the fort down until you return...

Oh yeah, this trip didn't happen unless we see LOTS of pictures:P

Gene I hope that Alaska trip includes flying to Fairbanks then taking the train back. This trip is included in some of the trips starting from Vancouver. We only did the 7 day cruise part but should have including the flying and train part also. The very best part of that trip we took was once the luggage was checked in in Dallas, we never seen it again until we stepped in our room on the ship and there it was sitting in the middle of the floor.... Well another good part was we could eat 20 times a day if we felt like it and no extra charges if we did. I hope you chose a room with a veranda which is and outside room. More fresh air and scenery .
