Another busy week in my shop. We finished a Cedar table for a Primo smoker/grill that was picked up this morning.

Yesterday we started working on four doors for two tall cabinets. These will be going out to Texas close to Waco. I was given four old shutters and they want me to build a frame around them and make two doors per cabinet. We are building the frame from Poplar. I think her plans are to paint the outside of the doors.

We will make a panel to fit the bottom of the door. I was looking through my lunch ear and decided to use some Pecan for the panels. We took some thick pieces I had and resawed then to get book match pieces. They will then be set in a grove so the panels float. I think when we finish the panels they will look close to the shutters.

And now I’m just waiting on Ron and Dorothy Dudleston to get here for the weekend.

Whats on your agenda this weekend. Love to see all of your projects and here about them for the weekend.

Whatever you do, have fun and be safe.

Those doors are going to look really nice! Have a great time with Ron and Dorothy.

As for me, it has been a really LONG week at work, 4 - 15 hours days, and I am not sure how long today will be yet, so I hope I will not be too tired to get into the shop. I have to get the wife to finish painting the table saw storage/outfeed table cabinet, while I need to finish my systainer storage cart and start on the drawers for the hardware cabinet.

If you are looking for a new laptop, PLEASE do yourself a favor and avoid the MacBook Pro. A friend's daughter spilled gatorade on hers. Well, disassembly was a total pain. Parts were held in with industrial strength adhesive that requires a special solvent to release. The keyboard- which is what needs to be replaced- is riveted in place. The keyboard illumination panel is glued to the keyboard so it virtually gets destroyed in the removal process. The rivet heads need to be ground off and not sure how to hold the new keyboard in place. I realize we are in an age of disposable electronics but $1100!! BTW the process is basically the same to replace the SSD drive or add more memory.

Maybe sometimes it don't pay to go first class???

Getting close to the finish line on that Stepback Cupboard in Pine...hope to get the Shellac on tomorrow...woodworking part is done

I may get yelled at for saying this but, IMO, a MACBOOK  is a far cry from a first class machine. When our DIL was ready to upgrade hers, we (her hubby and I) talked her into a Toshiba Satellite and, she couldn't be happier.

Thats a bummer,Lew I have done that to a keyboard, but not a computer. Not a Mac fan anymore either.

Sure hope you can fix it, a shame to dump $1100.00.

Herb

book kept me up past my nap time

Yesterday was busy...had to stop for gas, then on to haircut which takes far longer to drive to than receive...on to Hobby Lobby for some accessories for the Pinewood Derby cars, a quick stop at the local has it all store :P to purchase a small digital scale to balance the derby cars.

then a quick stop at Rural King for coffee and 50# cracked corn; through the drive-thru at burger King because it's right there which in retro-spec was a VERY BAD decision:wub:, but I'll spare you the details. No time to rust hunt this trip.:( Forty-five minutes later back home and the race to finish the race...cars was on...not without unexpected challenges, but got them done (far from my best work), but in time to make the "Official Weigh-In" which didn't happen anyways. Found out I didn't need to stay at the Scout meeting but the local frozen custard place (small rural community of about 500 people but the best ice cream in our part of the state) had Georgia Peach Sherbet as the "flavor of the week." through the drive-thru, medium cone and a quart to go...should have foregone the cone...another poor decision for the day.

Anyway you can read about the rest of the day if you wish other than I stayed up late to watch Purdue lose yet again in the Sweet Sixteen...Not much else for the weekend...since winter has attacked from all fronts yet again. Hope Ron & Dorthy made it OK...they would have missed all the fun anyway since the Eastern part of state was spared.
