Dave, a smithy is definitely my first choice, have seen them on CL from time to time but though I've been watching haven't seen one for quite a while.

I don't think I've ever seen a used Smithy on CL...probably a timing thing. I have seen a few Enco mills or lathes but never a used 3-n-1 unit. Even used they were outside of my budget at the time and considering my frequency of use. Although if I had one, I'd probably find excuses to use it.:P  The Enco's IMHO would be right there and probably slightly above a Smithy in quality and performance. I'll keep it filed back should I stumble upon one to let you know.

Grizzly has two classes... Chinese and Taiwanese.

The Taiwan made stuff is much better than the Chinese.

Most of the time it's in the book.... They like to brag that it's Taiwan made.

The Precision Mathews line also has both Chinese and Taiwan machines. They say when it is Taiwan made. My Jet mill was made in Taiwan, a long time ago!
